Job DescriptionThe Shipping and Receiving Manager role will hold overall responsibility for managing all shipping, receiving, and warehousing operations and will report directly to the Plant Manager. This role will serve as a key decision-maker in the execution of broad organizational and operational objectives. Provides business and managerial leadership for successful operation of the shipping and receiving department. Hire and manage personnel, plan, and manage operations and interface with all internal and external departments. Provides continual coaching to all teams on ways to improve standards and maintain on-time performances. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) training, along with company pre-requisite programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), USDA Guidelines, and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP’s).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Help to create a culture of safety and service from the ground up and ensure compliance to the workplace safety standards, policies, and procedures.
Effectively represent the organization’s workforce and values while nurturing a culture of safety, responsibility, and accountability amongst all team members.
Provide leadership and direction to a team of operations supervisors as they oversee daily warehouse functions.
Ensure that operational resources, including equipment and individual talent, are properly allocated in relation to daily operational needs.
Perform high-level labor-allocation analysis to ensure efficient and cost-effective labor distribution along with on-going monitoring for compliance to budgetary objectives.
Ensure a work environment driven by mutual respect and a focus of shared goals.
Serve as a mentor, leader, and team builder.
Ensure team compliance to published Company policies, procedures, and standards.
Coordinate the efforts of shipping / receiving areas and operations personnel to ensure that customer orders are effectively fulfilled and fulfilled on time.
Coordinate between all team members and leadership to ensure organizational goals and objectives are effectively communicated and met.
Oversee all administrative processes within the distribution center to include generation of shift, labor, and operational reports.
Hire, train, evaluate, and develop team members.
Effectively resolve issues or concerns between team members and/or internal departments
Engage with Human Resources, implementing team member corrective action procedures when necessary.
QualificationsEXPERIENCE and EDUCATION
HS degree or GED is required.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in distribution management required.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a distribution operations manager role required.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics is preferred.
A background in safety knowledge, including distribution safe practices, OSHA requirements and emergency response training is preferred.
Extensive supply chain process expertise including inbound receiving, storage, retrieval (full pallets, case pick, layer pick), inventory, shipping, transportation, etc.
Excellent organizational and management skills to include the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and assign responsibilities accordingly.
Strong ability to manage profit & loss.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Strong computer and technology skills to include a proficiency in MS Office applications.
Knowledge of RF and/or Voice Pick-enabled warehouse technologies.
Background and experience with material handling equipment
Extensive knowledge of material handling challenges and opportunities.
Additional InformationThe pay range for this role is $52,965 - $72,826 (Annual). Actual wage will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Jack Link’s Total Rewards package for Team Members. Other rewards may include annual incentive and program-specific awards. Jack Link’s provides a variety of benefits to eligible Team Members, including medical, dental and vision benefits, life and disability insurance, 401k participation, paid holidays, and paid time off.

While performing the duties of this job the Team Member will be required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (i.e beard/hairnet, ear plugs, frock, boots, etc), stand for extended periods of time, and use hands/arms to push, pull, reach and occasionally lift above head. The Team Member must occasionally lift, push, pull up to 25 pounds and 50 pounds infrequently. Team Members are requested to visually inspect equipment and/or product.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant setting with wet/slippery floors, varying degrees of temperatures with an average temperature of 40 degrees in the production area. Team Members will be exposed to raw and/or cooked meat products, and moving equipment and will be required to follow all Food Safety Quality requirements.
