Job Title: Shipping Operative (Afternoons)

Salary: £26,000 rising to £27,400 when role requirements are met + 20% shift premium

Contract: Full time & permanent

The Opportunity

As a Shipping Operative you will transport materials, operate machinery, follow safety standards, and maintain a clean work area.

What you will do:

As a Shipping Operative, you are accountable for, but not limited to:

Material Transport and Equipment Operation: Transport materials throughout the facility and operate various machinery, including forklift trucks, backhoe loaders, compact wheel loaders, and telehandlers.

Safety and Standards: Follow health & safety policies, standard work procedures, and Caterpillar Production System principles to ensure quality and safety.

Machine Preparation: Prepare machines for shipping by greasing, strapping, and cleaning prime products, including working in tight areas when necessary.

Workplace Maintenance: Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work area in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM) standards.

Continuous Improvement and Training: Participate in rapid improvement workshops (RIWs), contribute process expertise, and engage in ongoing training and learning.

Flexible and Willing to Learn: Open to working overtime and learning new things.

Shift Work: Ready to work different shifts (Monday-Wednesday 16:30-2:30, Thursday 16:30-2:00).

Top Candidates will have:

Forklift License: Licensed and experienced forklift operator.

Machinery Licenses: Licensed to operate Backhoe Loaders (BHL), Compact Wheel Loaders (CWL), or Telehandlers (TH).

Shunter/Straddle Carrier License: Licensed to operate shunters or straddle carriers.
