About the Role
Position: Marine Communications Officer
Reports to: Marine Operations Manager
This is an exciting opportunity to become the central point of communication for LNG and condensate liftings at the marine terminal. As the Marine Communications Officer , you’ll manage the flow of crucial information between internal and external parties, ensuring smooth terminal operations. This role offers dynamic responsibilities, from pre and post-shipment documentation to conflict resolution and emergency response at the terminal.
Key Responsibilities
Information Flow: Act as the primary point of contact for LNG and condensate liftings, managing communication between the terminal, ship, and buyers. Documentation & Reporting: Ensure all pre and post-shipment documentation and key commercial cargo documents are provided on time, as per lifter’s instructions. Conflict Resolution: Manage front-line conflicts or discrepancies between terminal, ship, and buyers, and escalate issues when necessary. Marine Terminal Operations: Maintain information and document links on the Chevron website’s marine terminal page. Training & Competency: Undertake training for monitoring equipment and the Load Master role to ensure effective communication and operations within terminal jurisdiction. Emergency Response: Assist in responding to vessel emergencies as required, following established procedures. Health & Safety: Commit to health, environmental, safety, and Chevron best practices in all activities.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
Top 3 Must-Have Skills:
Valid open driver’s license. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint) and experienced in using web-based tools and databases. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.Additional Skills:
Customer-focused with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a busy environment. Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships that contribute to high-class business results.Nice to Have:
Previous marine experience in oil and gas, resources, defense, or shipping/port sectors. Marine VHF radio operator’s license (preferred but not essential). Demonstrated commitment to Chevron’s values of integrity, partnership, and trust, with a focus on achieving an incident and injury-free environment.Ideally:
Detail-oriented with a strong ability to manage competing priorities and ensure smooth terminal operations. Experienced in building strong, professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Proficient in managing documentation and reports with high accuracy. A proactive problem-solver, capable of handling front-line conflicts and emergencies effectively. Passionate about safety, environmental responsibility, and Chevron’s best practices.
