Job Title: Shipping Planner

Job Summary: The Shipping Planner is responsible for coordinating logistics activities. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing best practice processes to increase transportation efficiency while optimizing operational outcomes. This position will partner with supply chain teams, logistics providers and functional leadership to provide best logistics solutions and recommendations. The Shipping Planner will be accountable for executing outbound shipments according to customer guidelines, operational objectives, and monthly sales targets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must comply and support all applicable GMPs, Site Security, and Food Packaging Defense requirements that are referenced in the facilities GFSI food packaging safety program.
Other duties as assigned by any member of management. Coordinate the delivery of the customer orders with sales and customer. Work with sales on receiving and transporting orders. Adhere to daily production schedule. Make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals. Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes. Develop strong rapport with freight company and coordinate daily activities. Partner with cross functional teams to optimize freight/order execution process. Communicate and coordinate with clients to ensure timely freight arrangement. Work with leadership to troubleshoot and resolve constraint in the supply chain process. Generate reports and analyze data to provide timely and proficient logistics solutions. Work closely with dedicated fleet to align daily shipment, monitor trailers and coordinate dock movements.Qualifications: to perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Two years’ experience as a forklift operator and/or truck driver. One year shipping experience.Preferred Qualifications:
College and/or related technical experience.
One-year supervisory experience as a proven manager of at least five. 3-4 years’ experience in the corrugated box industry. Bachelor's degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Work Environment:
Regular work near moving mechanical parts. Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and temperature variations Noise level is moderate to high. Bump caps, ear protection, eye protection, and safety shoes are required.Physical Demands:
