Ferrous Processing and Trading, a business of Cleveland-Cliffs Steel, has an immediate opportunity for a Shift Supervisor at our Zalev Brothers operation in Windsor, Canada. The Shift Supervisor will provide leadership to the team responsible for operations at the Hot Briquette Plant.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Supervise employees working in the Hot Briquette Plant in adherence to company policies and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.Examine materials and products at various stages of processing for conformance to specifications.Maintain radio contact with personnel involved in plant operation.Observe machines and equipment for malfunction and order adjustments or repairs, or directs workers to make adjustments or repairs.Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.Interpret specifications and job orders to workers and assigns duties.Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.Maintain time and production records.Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.Operate a 24 hour/7 days a week operation and maintain continuous work production.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
Four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
