Shift Supervisor
Overview

Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a Shift Supervisor for our plastics packaging department who will be responsible for overseeing the operations and productivity of the shift. The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that production goals are met, quality standards are maintained, and employees are properly trained and following safety guidelines.

Responsibilities:

Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and staff during the shift. Maintain high-quality production according to specifications and planned schedules. Monitor and ensure machines meet set production targets. Supervise Packers to ensure regular checks are conducted and recorded accurately. Address any reported non-conformities promptly and take necessary actions. Plan and manage regrind and mix material usage before color changes. Minimize wastage of raw materials during machine setup. Coordinate mold, color, volume, or weight changes as per works order. Submit samples for QC approval after each changeover. Ensure production runs with “FIRST OFF” QC Approval. Manage timely replacement of Date stamps, UN inserts, and other necessary components. Prioritize machine operations during staff shortages. Report breakdowns promptly, especially after hours, to facilitate alternative plans Ensure safe and proper tool usage, reporting any faulty tools. Enforce adherence to safety protocols and PPE usage for all staff. Keep the plant clean and organized at all times, including during shift changeovers. Update daily reports with shift-related information and communicate effectively. Attend shift changeover meetings. Maintain discipline by addressing any misconduct or refusal of instructions. Lead by example, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.

Requirements:

Minimum Matric certificate. Desired diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. Trained blow-molding packers. Familiarity with factory operations, product lines, quality policies, and safety practices. Understanding of different grades of materials and UN Certification. Knowledge of maintenance procedures and breakdown reporting. Proficiency in Health & Safety practices. Proficient in setting blowing machines, including Top and Bottom blowing for HDPE. Ability to build and motivate teams. Strong leadership skills, leading by example. Fluent in English; proficiency in at least one official local language. Minimum three years as a blow moulding machine setter. Experience working day or night shifts.
