Services Technician

We have a fantastic vacancy for a strong Service Technician to join our state-of-the-art production facility in Balclutha within a versatile team. This role operates and maintains Balclutha site-wide utilities and services to support manufacturing and maintenance operations and project work. Site utilities include plant and distribution systems associated with boilers, both LPG and biomass, air compressors, water supply, water and wastewater treatment, RO water, COW water, irrigation, refrigeration, cooling towers, bulk chemicals, compressed gases, electrical distribution, HVAC, and fire suppression. Reporting to the Line Shift Lead, you will ensure maximum production quantity, quality, and compliance while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

 

This is a permanent full-time position working a rotating shift of 4 days and 4 off with a total guaranteed 42 hours per week.

 

You will:

Contribute to the achievement of a zero-harm workplace through active participation in health and safety programs.Ensure high levels of awareness and understanding of all relevant health and safety policies and procedures.Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance.Keep accurate records and documentation, including booking parts out of the store and accounting for time spent on tasks in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Assist the Maintenance Planner and Technical Lead to execute the maintenance plan and keep track of progress.Act with a sense of urgency in dealing with incidents causing production downtime or wastage.Coordinate engineering and electrical contractors to assist with maximizing plant uptime and minimizing costs.Train production staff in basic maintenance tasks like lubrication and center lining.Manage and optimize the preventive maintenance for critical assets to ensure the preventive maintenance plan adds value and remains cost-effective.Identify equipment failure modes and help the Technical Lead and Maintenance Planner review the PM plan periodically.Help with the rollout of new technology on-site for preventive maintenance or condition monitoring.Take the lead on troubleshooting complicated issues and arrange for backup support from contracting and automation companies.

Ideally, you will have:

5+ years relevant Engineering/Operation experience.Forklift license, chemical handler.Minimum of Enchem 3 boiler or New Zealand recognised steam qualification [or proof of enrolment for said qualification].Experience in hygienic manufacturing, preferably food/dairy production or FMCG.Experience working with factory utilities, permit issuer and hazardous work specialties (advantageous).Expertise in boiler operationProficiency with ammonia chillersKnowledge of reverse osmosis systemsUnderstanding of water filtration processesExperience in wastewater treatment
