Howden Africa Compressors & Turbines Division is looking for a Service Technician to provide technical, service and aftermarket- customer support during field service activities on various types of compressors, fans, centrifugal, roots type blowers and turbines. Diagnosing machinery, process and operating problems on rotating machinery and auxiliary equipment. The position will be based in Sasolburg.

What needs to be done?

Ability to interpret- understand PID, drawings, manuals etc related to all types of compressors, turbines and blowers.Perform service/repair on rotational equipmentPerform service/repair on multi-brand compressors; both oil injected and oil freeNavigate multi-brand compressor controllers to obtain data to assist in troubleshootingInstall new equipment (Construction Job Sites, and Retrofits)Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenanceMust be able to complete tasks in a timely, self-directed mannerAbility to work well independently and as part of a teamMaintain positive customer relations while resolving concerns and answering questionsConduct statutory and insurance examinations on rotational equipmentDiagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutionsProduce timely and detailed service reportsFollow all company’s filed procedures and protocolsCooperate with the technical team and share information across the organizationComprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendationsManaging of service contracts on customer sitesMaintain Health and Safety on all site as per Howden and end users standardsLaser alignment of equipmentCommissioning of plantSupport workshop associates when required

What do you need to bring?

Trade test certificate in Fitting or National Higher Diploma in Mechanical engineeringA minimum of 6 years related experience in rotating equipment fieldHigh level of analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to technical problems both mechanical and electricalProficiency in problem-solving, process analysis and capacity to troubleshootRead and comprehend written technical information in the form of technical manuals, drawings, parts books, and relevant publications is essentialMust be medically fit to perform dutiesMust be familiar with job site safety requirementsComputer skill set along with strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skillsA firm commitment to customer service excellence in all circumstancesBasic Technical knowledge of Rotating Equipment, Reciprocating Compressors, Gas Compressor Engines & Turbines. Roots and centrifugal blowersValid passport holder, a valid driver’s licence and overhead crane.
