Rogers is seeking a Service Specialist. You will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of IP Radio Access Network, timing systems and wireless service verification tools and systems. The IPRAN operations and network support systems team is responsible for operation and administration of the IP Radio Access Network nationally, timing systems nationally and support wireless core network changes through various verification tools . We pro-actively interact with a variety of platforms for the purpose of Fault, Configuration, Accounting and Performance Management.  


What you will be doing:

Provisioning, configuration, and upgrades of new routers, switches, links, servers and applications Manage the day-to-day operations of production routers, various application servers and systems Develop and perform routine maintenance activities. Detailed review of the engineering architecture and design to gain full understanding of the technology / product. Transform architectural concepts and engineering designs into practical and tangible day-to-day operational guidelines, procedures and practices. Coordinate and execute service verification test plans of various wireless networks. Develop and automate service verification test plans. Collaborate with other specialists in the development of the technical steps in the MOP (Method Of Procedure) required to effectively implement complicated high risk changes to production service platforms. Act as Tier 4 technical escalation within Network Operations to address service impacting outages arising from technically challenging problems. Interact with the vendors on chronic failure mechanisms with an aim to derive underlying root causes. Manage implementation of fixes and recommendations. Liaise with Engineering for ongoing projects and roadmap planning. Adhere to all policy and legal requirements under Health and Safety legislation.
 

What you bring: 

2-5 years of experience working with wireless systems. 2-5 years of experience in Linux systems administration  Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience on IP networking, Cisco/Juniper routers, switches and firewalls IP Knowledge:  In-depth knowledge of routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, MPLS and Multicast is an asset. In-depth knowledge of internet protocols such as IPv4, IPv6, ICMP, TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS is required. Knowledge of network security and policies Server Administration:  Linux administration Virtualization/Contarization (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes)  Certifications: Cisco (CCNA/CCNP/CCDE/CCIE) desirable DevOps:  Experience with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment Good knowledge of Python, JSON, YAML, BASH and regular expressions partnered with a good understanding of C, C++, SQL, Netconf, and Jupyter notebooks would be an asset. Communication:  Excellent technical troubleshooting, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Ability to express a passion for the organization’s customers, stakeholders and peers. Well-versed in the latest technology offering, capabilities and trends. Team Player:   Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, in an organized, methodical and pleasant manner. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team and with cross-functional departments.    Problem Solving:  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Education:  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus. License:  Must have a valid driver’s license in the province of Ontario.
