Deep domain knowledge enables us to truly understand and address our customers’ challenges and opportunities.Our team supports customers with ABB automation and electrical drives systems and solutions, operating in the mining industry, across Canada. Our customers operate mission critical 24x7 processes which rely on ABB support from installation and initial start-up, through to life-cycle services to maximize the availability of the solutions provided by ABB and optimize their operations.You will execute service work with Automation Service Canada, specializing on ABB Kiruna Truck solutions provided by ABB. Located in Sudbury Ontario, you will act as a field service representative providing on-site and remote services to customers. You will work with other ABB field service personnel in Sudbury and Ontario in general, with an extended network of professionals within Canada, North America and globally.•\tThis role will have primary responsibility to travel to customer underground sites to provide preventative maintenance and troubleshooting support for ABB’s Kiruna truck systems and associated ABB product in the design including ABB ACS880 Drives, AC800M controllers, Control Builder software, Panel 800 and dataloggers.•\tResolve Kiruna trucks operational issues, with support from an extended team when required. The goal would be to ensure the Kiruna truck systems are operational and meeting performance, availability, and utilization targets. •\tLead and/or participate in the installation and commissioning of new Kiruna truck deployment •\tDesign, implement and execute maintenance programs to maximize the availability and operational effectiveness of Kiruna truck fleet.•\tConsult with and advise customers on the best service solutions in accordance with standard processes, procedures and safety guidelines. •\tPrepare and present reports to customers for new installations, maintenance, audits, and other services. Analyze the Kiruna Truck performance (uptime, maintenance, unplanned trip outs) that the customer is experiencing. Institute operational & maintenance improvements based on guidance provided by the team members. Review operational parameters in dealing with a particular issue. Plan new maintenance and tune-up activities to resolve the customer issues•\tDeliver occasional training to our customers on ABB Kiruna truck operation and maintenance of associated systems•\tProvide ABB leadership with recommendations for product, quality, and customer service improvements.•\tRegular travel to underground sites is required to provide on-site services. This may include occasional travel outside the Sudbury area for both customer on-site services as well as training. •\tThe successful candidate will be required, once he/she has reached the required level of expertise, to be part of the 24 hour ABB Supportline. This is based on rotating weeks together with the rest of the team.
Qualifications for the roleIndustrial/construction electrician’s certificate of qualification (College Diploma or University Degree in electrical or instrumentation studies is an asset).Electrical / Instrumentation Fundamentals.Basic Sciences (Pressures and Forces, Hydraulic and pneumatics, mathematics).Can read circuit diagrams and troubleshoot circuitry with electrical test equipment (Multimeter, Megger).Can troubleshoot and work around AC/DC voltages up to 1000 VAC/VDC.Working knowledge of simple Hydraulic circuits (2 position valves and Pressure/Flow controls).Can read, understand and troubleshoot hydraulic circuits.Understanding of PLC (programmable Logic Controllers) and associated I/O and communication cards that make up a Programmable Logic Controller. Be able to read and understand PLC logic software.Working knowledge of VFD (Variable Frequency Drives).Understanding of AC and DC motors.Diagnose and repair basic feedback control signals.Able to work in an underground environment.Able to work alone and in a team environment.Working knowledge of laptop computer software and wireless communication protocols.Ability to troubleshoot software issues and process/analyze data. Strong technical problem-solving skills.Strong customer focus and the ability to relate well to customer needs, strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.Must be able to work in a multi-disciplined service environment often under pressure filled conditions.Good communication skills, including the ability to write technical reports and speak effectively before customers or employees of the client organization.Safety consciousness with excellent safety track record.This position requires residence in the Sudbury region.Domestic and international travel (valid passport) may be required depending on job assignments.Travel outside of local area as required.Valid driver’s license for Canada.Able to work weekends and evenings when required.Able to be on an On-Call rotation for emergency customer support. (7 days continuous).Heavy mechanical equipment expertise is an asset.
