Position Overview:
The Service Writer role specializes in detail-oriented, customer-focused, cradle-to-grave handling of large vessels in a direct-to-consumer approach. The Service Writer is the primary liaison between consumers, field staff, warranty, and other internal departments. Service writers are responsible for complete ownership of cases to minimize or eliminate repair downtime. Service writers interact with all internal Mercury and Brunswick departments, external dealers, marinas, consumers, and their representatives to provide a specialized, personal, and seamless large vessel consumer experience. This position reports to a Service Director.
Essential Functions:
Mercury Service is the primary support contact between Dealers, TAMs, LVSS, PAE OEMs, brokers, and end-user consumers, resulting in a personalized, world-class service experience.Effectively plan, develop & execute primary case ownership strategies for issue resolution, advising maintenance, technician scheduling, estimating invoicing, and closed-loop consumer feedback.Coordinate workflow to optimize priority and efficiency while interacting with all departments.Ability to analyze technical service problems and recommend an appropriate solution.Perform other duties and various tasks as assigned by the Service Director.Acquire and maintain MU Outboard certification within the 1st year of employment while demonstrating a thorough knowledge of Mercury and Brunswick products. Participate with Legal and other Mercury divisions with special events, activities, litigation, boat shows, and business opportunities.Required Qualifications:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.Participate and travel in the field up to 40%. Occasional multi-week travel events may be required.Ability to work independently, make accurate decisions, and analyze risk.Possess thorough knowledge of Mercury products while effectively training & demonstrating to consumers.Excellent interpersonal and consumer interactive skills.Knowledge of digital business software, including service scheduling and dealer POS systems.Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, changing environment with minimal oversight & exercise thorough follow through and ownership of tasks to resolution.Facilitate clear written and verbal communication while maintaining meticulous record-keeping.Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related or engineering field or a minimum of five years of experience in marine service and repair or adjacent industryPreferred Qualifications:
Customer service experience and complete understanding of service philosophy.Five or more years in a marine service-related capacity. Knowledge of Marine service and repair fundamentalsProficient with Office 365, SalesForce, Oracle, and Lightspeed business systems.The anticipated pay range for this position is 84,500 – 136,100 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
