 Ella Mae’s Diner Servers will be responsible for the dining experience to include greeting the guests, serving the guest in a gracious and professional manner that represents the highest standards to ensure exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance to Ella Mae’s Diner standards and the Autograph Collection standards under the franchise of Mainsail Lodging & Development.

Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Ella Mae’s Diner Servers will be responsible for the dining experience to include greeting the guests, serving the guest in a gracious and professional manner that represents the highest standards to ensure exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance to Ella Mae’s Diner standards and the Autograph Collection standards under the franchise of Mainsail Lodging & Development.

Essential Functions

Serves guests in an efficient courteous manner following the proper steps of serviceAbility to create a service experience for the guest that represents the Ella Mae’s Diner brandReport to work on time and in proper uniform/approved attireWork as part of a team with all team members within the hotelCheck station assigned for cleanliness of areaSet up tables with items needed for service such as salt, pepper, cutlery, glassware, dishwareHave necessary tools to run the shift such as tray, pen, corkscrew, crumberKnowledge of all menu items to include: prep time, preparations, sauces, allergies, and accompanimentsAbility to use descriptors to describe dishesBaseline wine and cocktail knowledge to include classic cocktail recipes and recipes of in-house cocktails as trained by bar staff and managementKnowledge of all daily specials and ability to effectively communicate to the guestBe aware of any menu items, beverages or other items running lowAbility to handle station, or when situations arise, ability to let manager/supervisor know ahead of time so as not to affect the guest experienceFollow cash handling procedures, and must be able to explain shortages and overagesFollow the proper steps of service consistently with every table as outlined in training manualUpsell items to guests at all interactionsClear tables quickly and quietly ensuring no residue remains on the table

Light food running to include carrying at least two plates at warm or hot temperatureDetail tables and remove items not in useNever solicit tipsAttend monthly department meetings and daily stand ups without exception unless approved by managementAbility to use POS (point of sale) system – Oracle MICROS POSFollow the procedures addressed in the training manualPerform other duties as management requests to service our guests

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience

High School diploma or higherPrevious hospitality/serving position required, minimum one-year FOH serving experience in high volume restaurant in the Southwest Florida area preferredExcellent customer service skillsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to use technology, e.g. tablets

NOTICE:  The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day.  All associates must always realize this fact and be aware that it may be necessary to move associates form their accustomed shift as business demands.  In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must always be projected.
