At the **Graceville Correctional Facility in Graceville, FL** **,** our foundation is based upon the philosophies of caring about others, giving back, and making a social impact. We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping an at-risk population receive the treatment necessary for success on their road back to a healthy, productive life. **Position Summary:** Reports to the investigator. Responsible for the investigative work, identification and validation of gang members, and conducts detainee investigations. Provides instruction to staff on report writing, crime scene and evidence preservation, gang identification, monitoring of potentially disruptive detainee, and the narcotic prevention program in compliance with the American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives. **Essential Functions:** 1. Coordinate with staff on the receipt and analysis of gang information. 2. Supervise and direct searches for contraband including “pat” and “strip” searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions. 3. Monitor Inmate files for investigative purposes. 4. Compile and analyze data to prepare reports and maintain related records. 5. Respond to emergencies and institution disturbances including climbing stairs, steps, and ladders while searching for escaped offenders, hearing calls for and calling for help, giving first aid at the emergency site, carrying an injured or unconscious offender or employee various distances to safety up or down stairs, steps, and ladders; and use force and deadly force to include the use of chemical agents and firearms in accordance with company policies and agency regulations. 6. Supervise and conduct in-depth investigations of incidents which involve criminal activity within the facility. Establish rapport with federal, state, and local law enforcement. 7. Identify narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia. 8. Utilize proper search procedures to persons and property when checking for contraband items. 9. Assess and evaluate the facility’s security requirements; make appropriate recommendations for improvements or modification to the warden. 10. Oversee, gather evidence and testimony, establish case history of incidents and prepare comprehensive, timely, and efficient manner. 11. It is expected the incumbent will work overtime when directed to do so. 12. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques. 13. Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management. **Education and Experience Requirements:** High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years experience in an adult correctional environment or related field required. One (1) year prior investigations experience desired. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of computer software applications, narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia, report writing, and gang related information. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management. **Post Hire Requirements:** Must attain and maintain appropriate facility security clearance.
