Senior Whole Life Carbon Advisor

Are you looking to join a team and company on a mission to decarbonise the built environment and transform the construction industry as we know it?

The Opportunity

As Senior Whole Life Carbon Advisor, you will join our Whole Life Carbon team – a growing team within Laing O'Rourke's Sustainability function. Working alongside a team of specialist carbon advisors, you will play a critical role in helping to deliver carbon reductions through the measurement and management of embodied and operational carbon emissions on our projects. As part of this role, you will be interacting with multi-disciplinary design and construction teams covering multiple projects across our key sectors with a real opportunity to influence project outcomes.

This is a national role with an expectation to visit project offices and sites regularly alongside some flexibility to work from home or our office bases in Dartford, Sale, and Worksop. Proximity to Manchester to support our projects in the North of England would be advantageous but not essential.

Key Deliverables and Accountabilities

Support project teams to deliver against requirements included in contract documents, framework agreements and planning conditions for carbon measurement, management, reporting and reduction. Provide support to Project Technical Leads and project teams in establishing and supporting processes for whole life carbon measurement in line with RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) Standard 2nd Edition. Provide support to Project Technical Leads and project teams in establishing and overseeing the processes for carbon management in line with PAS 2080: 2023. Collaborate with the Whole Life Carbon team to continue developing and rolling out LOR templates and multi-disciplinary guidance for carbon reduction and reporting. Learn about and use carbon measurement software and tools, such as One Click LCA and eTool, to generate outputs for bids or verify values for contracts. Contribute project case studies relating to whole life carbon measurement and management to support work winning activities. Contribute to the development and delivery of carbon literacy training for staff at all levels and support the upskilling of project teams. Engage and support our factory teams in data collection and carbon estimation for structural and MEP products, to produce new and refine existing EPDs and TM65 calculations. Suggest areas/ideas to drive decarbonisation throughout the whole project value chain. Present results of whole life carbon assessments to clients and Project Leaders.
