The Customer Experience (CX) Team at Pearson VUE are change agents who strive to design best-in-class product experiences for our learners, candidates, educators and clients. 

Role Overview:  

Pearson VUE is looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our growing design team focused on creating intuitive, inclusive, and impactful digital experiences for test-takers, learners, educators and administrators across the globe. In this role, you will take ownership of the end-to-end product design process, contribute to strategic decisions, and deliver user-centric solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, architects, researchers, content specialists and your fellow designers. This role requires deep expertise in UX and UI design and comfort conducting lightweight user research to validate your work. A visual design background is an asset. 

Key Responsibilities:  

 Core Design:  

Lead the end-to-end product design process across web and mobile platforms—from concept to polished execution—including design for products within the Achieve platform, which spans learning, practice, and certification workflows 

Design intuitive, accessible, and inclusive user experiences that solve real user problems and align with business goals.  

Create and iterate on design artifacts such as user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and design specifications.  

Contribute to Pearson VUE’s design system, ensuring consistency is maintained across our portfolio of products.  

Collaborate with product,  managers and , engineerings, and accessibility teams to understand requirements, scope, and technical constraints, and to support design QA and implementation through design QA.  

Ensure accessibility compliance (WCAG) and responsive design principles are embedded in all experiences.  

Expert proficiency in Figma is required to create and maintain visual and interaction designs using both existing and new typography, layout, and branding elements.   

Workshop Facilitation & Light Project Management:  

Through workshop facilitation, contribute to a shared understanding of user journeys, personas, and success metrics across teams—including mapping complex cross-platform journeys for Achieve’s multi-segment users such as learners, instructors, and admins.  

Plan and conduct lightweight user research to inform design decisions—e.g., stakeholder interviews, usability testing, UX audits, and heuristic reviews.  

Analyze research findings to identify user pain points, validate design hypotheses, and generate actionable insights.  

Collaborate with UX researchers, strategists, and cross-functional teams to synthesize data and align on user needs, behaviors, and journey insights.  

Support light project management activities such as coordinating design timelines, tracking progress in tools like Jira, and ensuring alignment with sprint goals.  

  

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:  

Essential:  

7+ years of professional experience in Product Design, UX/UI Design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product thinking and polished interfaces.  

Expertise in digital design and prototyping tools (Figma expertise are essential)  

Experience designing web-based applications, ideally in education, publishing, or enterprise environments.  

Strong understanding of interaction design, visual design, responsive design, and accessibility standards (WCAG).  

Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills; ability to confidently present and defend design decisions. Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to confidently present and defend design decisions to stakeholders within the CX/design team and across other functional teams 

Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and synthesizing insights to inform design direction.  

Proven ability to translate complex user needs into intuitive, visually appealing, and engaging digital experiences.  

Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.  

Familiarity with Agile processes and project management tools (e.g., Jira).  

Desirable:  

Experience designing for new-to-market platforms, which aim to unify fragmented user experiences across multiple personas and geographies 

Background in educational technology and learning design.  

Familiarity with AI/LLM-driven interfaces or designing for conversational UX.  

Familiarity with front-end development concepts (Angular, React, HTML, CSS, responsive design).  

Knowledge of design accessibility standards.
