Senior Transportation Modeler

Your Opportunity

Stantec is looking for a Senior Transportation Modeler with minimum of 15 years of transportation engineering or planning experience to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a flexible/hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office.

Your Key Responsibilities Lead technical teams in planning studies, traffic impact analysis, traffic operation analysis, and toll feasibility studies. Oversee technical tasks like development and refinement of travel demand models, including model preparation, calibration and analysis of results. Lead data collection, management and analysis tasks, and big data processing. Train and delegate tasks to junior engineers on projects. Support project planning and management. Conduct business development and marketing. Present analysis results to technical and non-technical audiences. Prepare technical memoranda and reports. Your Capabilities and Credentials Understanding of fundamentals of travel demand modeling including advanced practices. Experience with model development, calibration and validation. Experience with travel demand modeling tools like Cube, TransCAD, EMME, Aimsun, including cross-platform data manipulation techniques, will be strongly preferred. Ability to use large passive travel data (LBS) to understand and model travel behavior Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret technical findings and share them with non-technical audiences. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with programming languages (such as R and Python). Experience with geographic data analysis using GIS. Ability to assist with proposal development and project management. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), strong presentation skills, especially to clients and peers. Ability to work on multiple assignments concurrently. Ability to mentor and delegate tasks to junior engineers. Strong familiarity with standard business software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Education and Experience Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, or related discipline A Ph.D. degree is preferred Minimum 15 years’ work experience in transportation engineering, modeling or planning and/or project management
