Senior Traffic Engineer - Design | Hybrid
VHB is seeking a strong Senior Traffic Engineer with solid design experience to join our vibrant and growing transportation consulting practice in Connecticut. This is an exciting opportunity to develop, analyze and evaluate traffic improvements, while being involved in transportation planning, safety, and engineering solutions for multimodal transportation projects. There is an option for someone to work from another VHB office to support CT projects, if meeting all qualifications.

Responsibilities:
Develop, analyze and evaluate traffic improvements including traffic signals and roundaboutsDevelop traffic and transportation planning, safety, and engineering solutions for multimodal transportation projectsConduct safety engineering analysis, including design and operational focused analysisDesign traffic control devicesDesign work zone traffic controlDevelop intersection designUse guidance within the MUTCD to prepare and oversee traffic signal warrant analysesAttend and lead meetings with transportation agencies and private developersPrepare and participate in presentations to the client team Prepare and review technical memoranda and reportsMentor junior team membersSkills & Abilities:
A strong background in traffic engineering and task managementExcellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skillsStrong writing skills for proposals, technical reports and memorandaThe ability to balance multiple concurrent assignmentsFinal Design Plan DevelopmentQualifications:
5-8 years of professional transportation/traffic design engineering experience required, depending on level of education8-11 years of professional transportation/traffic design experience preferredProficiency in Synchro requiredProficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD requiredVissim modeling capabilities a plusBachelor’s degree in civil engineering requiredMaster’s degree a plus (master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredPTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certification a plusWe are VHB!
