Senior Trade Compliance Specialist
Senior Trade Compliance Specialist City Ciudad de Mexico State/Province Distrito Federal Overview:

The Sr. Specialist - Trade Compliance is responsible for ensuring the company complies with international trade laws, regulations and internal policies. This role involves managing complex import/export compliance processes, conducting risk assessments and providing strategic guidance to internal teams. The Sr. Specialist will also oversee regulatory changes, support audits, special projects and regulations for controlled materials.

Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensuring compliance with international trade regulations
• Identifying and mitigating trade compliance risks.
• Developing and implementing internal policies and procedures for trade compliance
Export & Import Compliance
• Managing export and import documentation, including customs declarations, classifications (HTS, ECCN), and licenses.
• Conducting export control screenings (e.g., denied party lists, restricted end-users).
• Ensuring compliance with embargoes, sanctions, and country-specific trade restrictions.

Internal Controls & Audits
• Conducting internal audits and assessments to evaluate compliance effectiveness.
• Coordinating with legal and regulatory teams to address any compliance gaps.
• Providing recommendations for corrective actions.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
• Working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure smooth operations.
• Supporting cross-functional teams (e.g., logistics, legal, procurement) in trade-related matters.
• Assisting in responding to regulatory inquiries and audits from authorities.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degreeAdvanced English+10 years of experience in trade compliance, controlled materials, or a related regulatory field.Experience as a supervisorAbility to independently plan, organize, control, and coordinate customs operationsStrong analytical skills to interpret complex regulatory frameworks and assess compliance risksKnowledge of Free Trade AgreementsEffective communication skills (oral and written) and be able to influence othersCollaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholdersExperience working with different groups and stakeholders in delivering results

 

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge in SAP-GTSAudit experience
