What you’ll do

The Technology Portfolio Lead is Responsible and Accountable for a Team of Technology Product Owners, Business Analyst and potentially Project/Program managers where the needs arises.  The Technology Portfolio lead manages the interface to the IoT Line of Business (LOB) and, in particular to the Business Product Manager associated with your products/platform/developments.
The Senior Portfolio Lead for will be accountable and responsible for their value-streams to interlock into the Business Teams and align on the Product Strategy, drive product development and its delivery. The focus of this role is on all aspects of the Product and Value Stream, including technology evolution, channels, management, billing, support and play a significant role in the future of the Vodafone IoT Platform.  

Responsible to lead the product definition and delivery of selected capabilities and features for products like 5G SA, Global SIM+, SIM Transformation and other new products following customer demand and product evolution. It will be necessary to negotiate, manage and agree demand with product managers and pre-sales in the IoT line of business, back into the IoT practice for these capabilities and products and manage the backlog, development and operational governance within the budget and architectural guard railsManage the delivery teams accountable for your Value Stream and Product and work with wider practice leads, vendors, technology and operations teams to build the technology plan to inform and deliver the product/platform strategy and roadmap. This will require you to have a strong technology understanding for the products that are to be developed. You will also align and prioritise technology innovation and customer co-creation for the practiceNegotiate, manage, and agree demand into the practice and manage the finance and operational governance alongside LPM and other stakeholders.  Leading both the Product Requirements definition and deliveryLead the team on input to the creation of product feature requirements for developments working jointly with the Senior Product Manager who leads this. You will then translate these into lower-level product/platform/operating model requirements ensuring these are underpinned by an E2E technical architecture (incl. user journeys and non-functional requirements) working with other roles in Technology (e.g. architects, technical designers, service designers, business analysts, developers, and testers).  You will also be accountable for the delivery and performance of the supporting delivery teams and ART where appropriateAware, accountable and responsible for in-life technology management activities encompassing the E2E product architecture (incl. service, operations etc) in so far that they relate to the 12-month feature level roadmap aligned to the product/portfolio strategy and their overall costsManage the budget and capacity planning, working with the appropriate resource ownersManage the interface between the IoT Practice and the LoB Product Manager(s)Create the Technology Strategy, Plan and requirements to inform, then deliver, the Product/Platform Strategy, Roadmap and features (may also include platform, apps, integrated solutions)Interlock overall product/platform costs/budget/demands on the Practice with LoB Product manager, Pre-Sales, LPM, Finance and through governance. Ensuring continuous focus on cost managementLead on the technology planning and Delivery process for the Practice (in line with Product roadmap). Support wider domain with mandatory technical debt, enablers and KTLO to go onto the plan along with recommendations e.g. backlog, security & data privacy, technology insights and vendor roadmaps Progress new demands into impact assessment working with LPM and designers/architects. Agree on behalf of the practice that the LoB prioritised roadmap is viable from a technology, delivery and cost perspectiveManage the output and budgets through governance agreeing value streams, EPICs, capabilities and sequence these into NPDAlign, and prioritise, new technology innovation work taking inputs from the LoB Product Manager relative to the product strategy, roadmap and feature priorities. Look to bring co-creation into technology innovation and product development. The product manager helps aligning such requirements with customers/marketsWork with/ own each of the Value Stream backlogs, being responsible for managing the relationship with Product Managers, operational teams, key stakeholders and their priorities, and coordinate the translation of these onto the development teams, achieving the balance between compliance to requirements and delivery times/costs/ quality, within a virtual team across regionsInput to the creation of Product features with the Product Manager. Considering the backlog, technology innovation and insights, platform and technology strategy for the product. Agree to the final features for which the product manager has the final decisionTranslate the product features and requirements into buildable, lower-level requirements working with the team leaders and architects to feed into the design/development/engineering teamsManage local market integration and interface for product developments. Ensure that the technical specifications to be built align to local product/technology needs, share and interlock the technology plans, capture, cost SLA and vendor requirements Undertake in-life technology management (incl. service and systems) where it relates to the interlocked product roadmapCreate & maintains technical product content, where agreed with the product manager (Service specs, SLAs, training)Ensure that new technology/vendor selection decisions meet the product requirements including features, unit costs, service models, CX, SLAs, roadmapsResponsible for compliance of all products & solutions to Cyber & Corporate Security and business resilience policies and standards through the new product development process and throughout the lifecycle of product/solution. Work with Product Manager (who is accountable) and actively engage with Security functions to ensure compliance

Technology Product Owner Activities:

Define low level requirements, acting as the product owner, working with the agile development teams, prioritise the backlog, always maintain alignment to Product Manager outcomesIn-life technology management for the E2E product architecture e.g. processes, queries, security & data privacy, Risks/issues resolution, KTLO, capacity forecasts, rationalisation, KPIsPreparation and Participation in SI/PI Planning As a member of the extended Product Management team, the PO is heavily involved in program backlog refinement and prep for Solution/Program Increment planning and plays a significant role in the planning event itself. Before the planning event, the TPO updates the team backlog and typically reviews and contributes to the program vision, Roadmap, and content presentationsAttend and contribute to scrum meetings with the developer/engineer teamsAccept technology deliverables on behalf of the IoT PractiseWho you are University degree as relevant to the roleManaging in multi-market and global environmentsExperience leading and delivering high performance through teams in Technology industry (Senior roles)Agile product development experience (e.g. SAFe, Spotify, Scrum) and qualificationsExperience with Office and Collaboration apps, also product development tools e.g. MS Office, Teams, Jira, ConfluenceTechnical product development / product owner experienceStrong understanding of UX, Design Thinking, Portal products and technology under your responsibility – not as deep a technology understanding is required as a domain or solution architectBrings a balance of customer, business and technology understanding to relate technology solutions to product outcomes Strong collaboration, communication, team working and influencing skillsRelevant product, platforms, and technology experienceAbility to build E2E technology plans specific to products and platforms Customer centric focus ideally with experience defining capabilities and features following customer demand and/or through customer co-creationIn-life technology management and KPI performance relevant to products Roll out and manage in-life vendor cost and service performance specific to products Budget management and performanceExperience building technical and business requirements specifications for products and in turn user stories, service models, in conjunction with business and technology teamsBacklog management and prioritisationWorking knowledge of data privacy and security by default and by design principles and alignment to Information Security frameworksNot a perfect fit?
