KBR National Security Solutions is seeking a motivated and talented Senior Technical Leader in Systems Engineering for its Special Programs Advanced Technology team, which operates primarily from corporate locations in Ann Arbor, MI, and Chantilly, VA. The selected candidate for this position will both contribute to and coordinate the efforts of team(s) in the design, development, implementation, integration, testing and delivery of hardware, software, and systems solutions across a portfolio of funded Government contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Tasks: Perform engineering tasks to develop systems capable of meeting operational requirements within imposed constraints.Remote Sensing System Concept Development: Apply advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to develop system concepts and processing algorithms in the remote sensing domain, with an emphasis on radar systems for airborne and space-based platforms.Functional Analyses: Perform functional analyses to ensure systems meet performance criteria.Operations and Procedures: Formulate, recommend, and direct operations and procedures to resolve engineering and/or technical problems.Conduct Studies: Conduct special studies and investigations related to projects.Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance and instruction related to design problems.Project Requirements Analysis: Analyze project requirements and provide information and instruction for designing, operating, maintaining, and modifying systems.Solutions Integration: Ensure that solutions can be integrated into viable complete systems.Work Delegation: Plan and coordinate the work of other engineers and technical personnel, with completed assignments subject to minimum review of overall results.Personnel Guidance: Train, direct, and assist the efforts of other personnel, as required, to fulfill the objectives of the assignment.Organizational Consultancy: Serve as an organizational consultant; leads multi-discipline or cross-functional team(s).Assignment Management: Under broad direction, interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments.Staff Supervision: May supervise lower-level engineers.Strategic Planning: Participate in the strategic planning process and ensure appropriate skills are available when needed.Project Guidance: Advise staff on projects and tasks.Work Methods Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend changes in work methods and procedures in assigned areas.On-going Process Improvement: Develop and implement new processes/procedures as needed.Staffing Referrals: Recommend candidates for employment.Team Coaching: Coach and motivate team members.Business Development: Develop new business opportunities, and associated strategies and tactics to win work.General: Perform all other duties as assigned.Work Environment:

Required:
Clearance: Active Top Secret clearanceEducation: BS degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or applied mathematics plus 25 years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience; or Masters’ degree plus 16 years’ experience; or Ph.D. with 8 or more years of relevant experience. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.Technical Lead Experience: Demonstrated experience (5 years minimum) as a systems engineering technical lead, with responsibility for successful concurrent execution and delivery on development projects.Remote Sensing Knowledge: Knowledge of remote sensing technologies including active and passive sensor systems which operate in the RF regime, and the concepts, signal and image processing algorithms and software architectures that enable these systems.Prototyping Experience: Engineering software (prototyping) experience in MATLAB and/or Python.Established Client Relationship Skills: Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain trusted client relationshipsResearch Development Experience: A demonstrated ability to successfully execute research and development projects (for prototypes, products & systems)Government Contracting Understanding: Knowledge of U.S. Government contracting and federal acquisition regulations, and success in operating as an engineering lead and/or project manager within this environmentLeadership Experience: A demonstrated ability to not only direct, but lead, a highly talented teamBusiness Management Tools Proficiency: Ability to work with standard business management tools and financial systems, MS Office, project management softwareWork-style Flexibility: Ability to work in a team environment as well as independentlyCommunication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skillsDesired:
