Senior Technical Leader - ICE/Hybrid Engine Combustion and Development Engineer
**In this position…** Market forces constraining BEV volume have renewed the need for developing internal combustion engines. To meet regulatory CO2 and criteria emissions requirements, significant upgrades to Ford’s internal combustion engine lineup are needed. Customer demands for improved reliability, and performance as well as new hybrid powertrain configurations are also driving change. Simultaneously delivering these attributes demands a strategic and integrated approach to powertrain development. This Senior Technical Leader (STL) position is critical to providing global leadership in this area. The STL will identify and champion synergistic technologies that optimize CO2 reduction, emissions control, reliability, and performance. Further, the STL will advise leadership on strategic technology selection, guide teams through effective implementation, inform and shape Ford's global corporate engine technology strategy, represent Ford in external collaborations, conferences, and industry forums, and drive essential training and mentoring initiatives to address the critical expertise gap and build future talent. **What you'll do…** + Identify and champion synergistic technologies that optimize CO2 reduction, emissions control, reliability, and performance + Responsible to ensure adherence in maintaining Core Development documents, combustion workbooks, SDS & test procedures + Support global engine programs with technical expertise + Improve methods to assess CO2, emissions, performance, and NVH leveraging transient methods, learnings/representations of real-world driving, and analytical techniques + Lead strategic technology selection, guide teams through effective implementation, inform and shape Ford's global corporate engine technology strategy to guide product planning + Integral to Signoff of combustion attributes, final SAE and Homologation documents + Go-To for Problem Solving – Launch, Recall, Quality / Field Issues + Represent Ford in external collaborations, conferences, and industry forums, and drive essential training and mentoring initiatives to address the critical expertise gap and build future talent + Mentor development of TS / Engineers in the engine and powertrain development community **You'll have…** + MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required + Minimum of 15 years of Experience in engine design and development with 5 years of experience working on combustion related items + Demonstrated technical expertise in the area gas or diesel combustion systems and engine dynamometer testing + Working knowledge of applicable Verification, Quality, Manufacturing, and Assembly methods + Knowledge of engine instrumentation methods + Data processing expertise + Expert Level - Demonstrated expertise in combustion & air path systems with a record of implementation and tech transfer to production + Significant experience developing engine technology and attendant requirements for control strategies + Working knowledge and documented contributions in hardware design and control system fundamentals + Documented contributions in creation of innovative development testing methods and metrics **What you'll receive in return…** As part of the Ford family, you’ll enjoy excellent compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous PTO, retirement, savings and stock investment plans, incentive compensation, and much more.
