Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled tax professional with experienced in leading Tax Accounting and Compliance operations to join our team. This position will be based out of the Siemens Healthineers’ office in Malvern, Pennsylvania, under a hybrid work model. The individual will have flexibility to work remotely, as well as in the office for meetings, projects, or collaboration time.
Travel may also be required be required for business meetings, audits, or industry conferences (about 15% of the time).
This leadership role will oversee and manage all aspects of income tax operations for the company, specifically including tax reporting and tax compliance. This individual will be pivotal in leading digitalization and automation initiatives within the tax function, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide strategic guidance, and ensure the company's tax positions are optimized. This person will also ensure the organization meets all tax obligations, complies with relevant laws and regulations, and maintains an effective tax reporting process.
The ideal candidate will be able to multitask and deal in a calm and balanced way with a variety of projects both expected and unexpected. The person in this position will be expected to:
• Tax Reporting & Accounting: Oversee tax provision preparation in accordance with accounting standards (IAS 12), ensuring accurate and timely reporting of tax liabilities and deferred tax assets/liabilities. Coordinate with external auditors on tax-related matters during the quarterly audits.
• Tax Compliance Management: Manage a team in the preparation, review, and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for the company. Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations, including income and franchise taxes.
• Digitalization: Embrace technology to streamline tax processes, improve data management, and enhance decision-making. Enable the tax department to shift from a reactive, compliance-focused role to a more proactive, value-driven partner in the business, delivering strategic insights and ensuring the organization remains agile in a rapidly evolving tax landscape.
Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals. Identify and nurture the strengths of each team member, providing opportunities for professional growth and skill development. Align the team’s efforts with organizational goals while ensuring everyone understands their role and responsibilities. Cultivate a culture of open communication, trust, and collaboration.
Strategic Tax Leadership and Advisory: Collaborate with senior leadership to implement tax strategies that align with business goals, identifying opportunities for tax savings and managing the tax impact of strategic decisions like M&A, restructuring, and financing.
Compliance, Controls, and Risk Management: Establish and maintain robust internal controls for tax compliance and reporting, ensuring proper documentation supports tax positions. Work closely with the tax controversy team to address audits and disputes, while staying up-to-date on regulatory changes to ensure the company's tax practices reflect the latest developments in tax law.
Required education, experience and skills:
Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, Finance, or Economics. Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Additional certifications in tax law or compliance are a plus.
Experience: Extensive professional experience (minimum of fifteen (15) years) progressive experience in tax accounting, tax compliance, or a similar role for a large, publicly traded company or national accounting firm. Minimum of eight (8) years of managerial experience leading teams in tax and accounting functions. Experience with large, complex tax structures, including multi-jurisdictional tax issues. Requires a deep expertise in IAS 12 (Tax Provisions) and tax reporting processes, along with a solid command of accounting principles and other IFRS standards.
Skills: Must have (i) excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and (ii) the ability to work in an office environment or remotely as required, and manage a team of professionals in multiple locations throughout the U.S. Should be proficient in use of tax software, accounting systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
