The role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll join a team working on developing a Systems Engineering capability in support of ongoing maintenance projects for submarines across all classes currently in-service for the Royal Navy.
 
Day to day, you’ll be embedded within the Submarine Project Engineering Team (SPET) working on developing the Systems Engineering approach to delivering technical risk management, requirements management and allowing incremental assurance and acceptance.
 
Your key responsibilities will include:

Supporting the Chief Engineer and Project Engineering Managers (PEM) within SPET to drive the projects through the Engineering Product Lifecycle by facilitating and supporting technical gate reviews and tailoring the lifecycle as appropriate. Engaging with discipline leads around the business to develop robust management plans and processes that can be used across projects. Managing your workload independently to ensure tasks are progressed in parallel and key delivery dates are met. Championing a Systems Engineering approach within the business. Identifying best practice from other areas of the business where applicable to aid in the development of engineering solutions.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer

Experience in using and authoring engineering documentation (such as processes, guidance documentation & management plans) Understand Systems Engineering principles iaw ISO 15288. Ability to work independently, challenge the status quo and make judgments based on incomplete information is essential. Strong communication skills and ability to converse at all levels and influence others to achieve your goals. 

 
Qualifications for the Senior Systems Engineer 

Degree Level qualifications in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics discipline however we will consider applicants that can demonstrate relevant vocational experience if this isn’t held  Hold, or be willing to proactively work towards, professional recognition as an Incorporated / Chartered Engineer with an appropriate Engineering Institution.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
