Senior System Engineer - REMOTE

**SUMMARY**
Provide software development support and services for the U.S. Census Bureau (USCB) 2026 Census Test requirements.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Experience in requirements management including creation of software requirements from system requirements.
+ Experience in system management, Interface Control Documents, test data
+ Strong proficiency in writing technical manuals and system architecture drawings
+ Proven success in creation of new web-based filling System Engineering role, ideally based in Salesforce platform though not required
+ Deliver a robust, integrated Information Technology (IT) solution providing a FedRAMP SaaS cloud-based platform for automation, standardization, and streamlining of job applications and assessments (Recruitment and Assessment (R&A) solution).
+ Provide an innovative front-end solution to supplement our current automated processes for our integrated approach to recruiting, assessment, and onboarding in a timely manner. The solutions will function as a public facing applicant portal allowing the completion and submission of applications, assessments, documentation, and other onboarding functionality.
+ Provide analysis related to the design, development, and integration of hardware, software, man-machine interfaces, and all system level requirements to provide an integrated IT solution.
+ Develop integrated system test requirements, strategies, devices, and systems.
+ Formulate and define systems scope and objectives based on both user requirements with a thorough understanding of business and industry best practices.
+ Develop or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of desired results. This included the analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirements specifications.
+ Provide consultation on complex projects and serves as subject matter specialist on most phases of systems analysis, while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.
+ Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.

**Job Requirements:**
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Ten plus (10+) years’ of Systems Engineering experience with system configuration, software and custom application development, computer systems architecture, information systems and data communications.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. Master’s degree with 8 years’ experience is also acceptable.
+ Must obtain and maintain any necessary USCB security access and/or background checks.
**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS**
+ Technical experience meeting tight development schedules within the prescribed project times as projected by the development team.
+ Ability to support multiple development projects simultaneously on a weekly basis.
+ Provide written insight to developer tasks as well as a summary of any management activity such as meetings with customers.
**WORK SCHEDULE**
Full-time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
Work is performed primarily in a remote environment. The USCB headquarters environment is normally air conditioned, but conditions may change dependent upon circumstances. Work may need to be performed in a fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking and rapid judgements. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, using hands/ fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, speaking, or translating. Periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting equipment weighing up to 30 pounds. Moderate to extended periods of office work with heavy periods of computer usage. **COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS** **:**
+ Pay is $150,000 to $170,000 per year.
