Senior System Administrator - Public Trust Clearance

A week in the life of Senior Systems Administrator: 

Upgrade and maintain the enterprise monitoring software applications used on premise and maintain the services used for enterprise monitoring Maintain and configure the Library’s software and services to  monitor hardware and software with and without the use of agents monitor hardware and software via SNMP collect and analyze log data collect and analyze NetFlow data  monitor services through the use of active synthetic and passive user browser monitoring monitor specialized devices via device‐ specific interfaces, monitor specialized services via service‐specific interfaces (such as APIs) Maintain and configure the library’s software and services to perform  transaction tracking within applications predictive analysis for hardware and software events automated responses to events Upgrade and update each of the on‐premises enterprise monitoring installations to maintain all systems at a current major release and security release and address Library security requirements Propose a schedule for upgrades, to be approved by the Library, and reconfirmed or revised every month during the period of performance Adhere to the vendor’s best practices and the Library’s processes and practices when planning and executing upgrades and updates including Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Enterprise Architecture, IT Security, Change Management and Service Request processes Responsible for maintaining (or configuring, as necessary) redundancy and failover capabilities of the on premises monitoring installations to ensure that planned or unplanned changes do not incur disruption to the monitoring services Responsible for account administration and maintaining the single sign on and encryption capabilities of the monitoring applications to ensure that monitoring traffic is secured and that users have appropriate permissions to functions and data based on their roles Maintain any instances of the monitoring systems within the development environment to develop and test on premise monitoring systems prior to deployment in the production environment Maintain documentation, in addition to the documentation required for the SDLC process, which indicates the configuration and operation of the installations of the enterprise monitoring solutions Maintain integrations between monitoring software and services, including integrating new, removing decommissioned, and transitioning between monitoring software and services Maintain the integrations between enterprise monitoring systems and the enterprise monitoring systems’ integrations with technology‐specific monitoring systems and other performance, security, and reporting systems Implement and maintain visualizations (such as dashboards) for technical and non‐technical users in formats suited to their roles and necessary to fulfill their responsibilities  Maintain documentation specific to the integrations of the monitoring solutions as well as up‐to‐date documentation (including diagrams) of current deployments, data flows, mechanisms, and security configurations Review monitoring activity and document and inform relevant Library staff of any alerts, events, or anomalies that have not previously been documented and addressed Collaborate with the IT support group of the relevant IT systems to determine how to address the events (i.e. process and respond to the events Document and implement any changes to monitoring configuration Implement and maintain alerting and notifications for the IT systems and their components  Configure the notification channels as appropriate to the capabilities of the monitoring system, requirements of the monitored system, business owner and support and assignment groups. The contractor shall use integrations with other monitoring systems, such as webhooks Perform additional programming such as scripting automated responses
