Key Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and schedule maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime. Prioritize work schedules for overhauling, maintenance, repairs, and rebuilds. Direct and supervise mechanical technicians to ensure high-quality, safe work execution. Conduct regular quality checks and coaching sessions for technicians. Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) policies. Maintain a clean and safe workplace by implementing 5S principles. Manage and report workplace incidents and safety breaches. Review and approve quotes for materials and supplies. Scope and estimate costs and timeframes for maintenance and overhauling tasks. Review completed work to ensure compliance with technical and safety standards. Follow up and close work orders in SAP. Education:
Degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience, or Diploma with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field. Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a smelter plant or similar heavy industry. Pump and Hydraulic overhauling experience critical. Skills & Knowledge:
Extensive mechanical engineering knowledge and hands-on experience with pumps, conveyors, compressors, and other equipment. Strong troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis (RCFA) skills. Knowledge of fabrication, welding, and machining processes. Experience in assembly, disassembly, installation, and dismantling of equipment. Proficiency in supervising overhauling maintenance, material handling, and tool management. Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders. Strong safety compliance record, including knowledge of work permits for hot work and confined spaces. Familiarity with mechanical codes, standards, and safety protocols. Ability to lead and develop team capability while ensuring high performance. Strong organizational, decision-making, and risk management skills. Budget and resource management expertise.
