With this role on our iOS team, you’ll collaborate across engineering, design, product, and customer support to help improve one of our industry-leading mobile clients.

As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for helping lead and shape the evolution of the iOS mobile client. In this role you will help to oversee the overall architecture of the application, as well as the smaller components it is comprised of. You will assist in enhancing the skills of other engineers and develop/implement long term maintenance and codebase evolution initiatives.

This position can be based to work out of any Jack Henry office or remotely from any US location. Salary range for this position is $120-200k, depending on candidate experience and geographic location.

What you’ll be responsible for: 

Provide architectural and “big picture” oversight for development of multiple new or enhanced products. Translate customer business requirements into specific systems, applications or process designs for solutions and integrating architecture. Act as an advocate for the customer, as the ultimate authority on the architecture designed to address customer’s business problems. Provide technical advice to other departments within the company; responsible for integrating components built by product developers. Analyze the high-level scope, timeline and specifications of tasks and directs team members in the completion of these activities. Write high- level implementation plans for enhancements and fixes and directs team members in the completion of these activities. Create system and development documentation. May perform other job duties as assigned. 

What you’ll need to have:

Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 15 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 10 years working with Apple platforms.Minimum of 5 years of experience with the Objective-C and Swift programming languages, and the ability to evolve a mixed-language codebase.Experience across any or all of the following frameworks: Foundation, CoreData, UIKit, and SwiftUI.Extensive knowledge of Swift Package Manager for dependency management.The ability to advocate for and articulate native platform design paradigms.A desire to mentor less experienced team members.The ability to communicate effectively across varying experience levels and disciplines.Ability to travel up to 5% to attend JH meetings, trainings, and/or professional conferences.

What would be nice for you to have:   

Experience in structured concurrency.Comfortability with additional scripting and markup languages such as: Ruby, YAML, Python, and Stencil.Knowledge of any of the following frameworks: AuthenticationServices, AppIntents, PassKit, Charts, CoreML, ProximityReader, or VisionKit.Experience building REST APIs.Experience on Apple platforms outside iOS (macOS, tvOS, or watchOS).Experience with any of the following tools: Jira, Figma, GitHub, Azure Dev Ops, Jenkins, or Fastlane.
