Senior Staff Engineer, IC Design

Job Summary

This individual will be a senior lead for the core Power Management design team, lead our chip projects, and be instrumental in converting pSemi technology into disruptive products for our target markets. The role will drive product during the entire product life cycle from product definition through product release to end-of-life.  As a key leader cross-functional product development teams the senior staff engineer will support and guide other essential disciplines including marketing and applications, project management, characterization, production and test engineering. The senior staff engineer is expected to successfully complete product development with little to no oversight and be proactive in identifying and resolving potential product issues. This position is expected to have a broad expertise and contribute to the development of the company’s overall objectives.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:

Product Definition: Assist Marketing in defining new products through feasibility studies and technical competitive analyses Product Design and Evaluation: Schematic Capture, IC layout, Simulation, Package Analysis, Evaluation Board Design, Design Validation, and mentoring junior engineers Product Documentation: Document all relevant product and design information to educate others on novel design techniques and provide guidance on product usage Product Characterization: Work with Characterization and Test Engineers to define, conduct and analyze data from product performance characterization Production ATE Development: Work with Test Engineers to define, develop and ramp production ATE solutions Product Support: Work with Applications, Product, Test and Manufacturing Engineers to help answer customer questions, assess field failures, support yield improvements, etc. Technology Development: work with Technologists to define the technology roadmap, addressing the performance and functional requirements of the product roadmap Team leadership: provide technical mentoring to junior design team members; help design manager with resource planning and cross functional team efforts

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)

Typically requires 8 to 12 years of experience in analog integrated circuit design and power management circuit design depending on education and experience 8 years of experience in semiconductor industry  Demonstrated working Silicon in more than one foundry process Exceptional knowledge of industry standard design conventions and rules in analog circuit design; knowledge in reducing design risk Solid understanding of analog circuit theory and power management circuits Capable in refining the product definition Possess excellent project management skills Creative and innovative on the architectural level Excellent analog integrated circuit and power management implementation skills Track record of thorough implementation and first working Silicon Experience debugging, probing and characterizing silicon using standard lab equipment Proficiency in design tools such as Cadence

 

Preferred Qualifications

Led at least 5 power management chip products on the market today Collaborated on at least 10 analog IC chip designs System level understanding Experience in a startup environment Experience in inventions and patent (co-)authorship

 

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Master’s or PhD preferred
