Job Description

The Event Center Senior Specialist of Production & Audio Visual (AV) Systems works under the supervision of the Event Center Executive Director to provide support and oversee all live event audio visual and production in the event center. This position is the lead authority on all audiovisual systems within the Tarleton State Event Center and supports all events within the facility including NCAA men’s & women’s basketball competitions, concerts, road shows, university events, etc. 

This position is located in Stephenville, Texas with work hours of Monday to Friday; from 8 AM to 5 PM or as business needs indicate. Work hours may vary during peak season and may be subject to after-hours, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.

Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.

Responsibilities:

Manages the operations of all live audio-visual (sound, lighting & video) equipment and staffing to ensure professional quality audio-visual services are provided for meetings, conferences, concerts, and NCAA athletic competitions within the Tarleton State Event Center.

Audio: understands full capabilities of house system, sets up and operates house audio systems as needed, sets up portable PA systems, ensures connectivity with scoreboard video system and/or distributed TV systems, and other AV-related functions

Lighting: understands full capabilities of house computer-controlled lighting systems, programs lighting levels, and other related functions.

Athletics: understands full capabilities and how to operate in-house Daktronics systems and other technology systems in support of NCAA basketball competitions.

Distributed TV System: understands capabilities of the system, ensures connectivity with house sound and/or scoreboard systems, programs TVs based on event schedule, and other related functions

Understanding and implementing electronic theory and testing procedures, digital electronic components, rigging techniques, and equipment safety protocols.

Communicates with clients to obtain necessary technical requirements for developing and executing a plan to create diagrams, fulfills riders, conducts advances, schedules and supervises labor calls, processes equipment orders and establishes cost estimates for events and other event-related information.

Conducts walk-throughs with customers to assess the needs for audio, video, and multi-media computer equipment including integrating supplementary equipment to in-house assets. For example, concert PA & lighting systems.

Identifies problems and troubleshoots equipment.

Meeting clients’ standards by handling equipment malfunctions and executing a flawless event.

Develop and maintain training manuals and other resources for the training of personnel.

Performing inventory management on equipment, wiring, and accessories, and providing reports to management regarding items that need to be repaired, replaced, or newly purchased.

Coordinate and facilitate audio-visual resources with external vendors, customers, and media, including facilitating life- stream video, recordings, and news feeds.

Hire, Train & Supervise student staff in support of the execution of AV/production of events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Four years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders to create a culture of service and continuous improvement.

Ability to work flexible hours and extended schedules to support events and duties that take place outside the normal operating hours.

Ability to analyze problems and develop alternative solutions.

Ability to troubleshoot to the component level and provide operator assistance in all aspects of audio.

Knowledge of electrical safety and risk mitigation practices.

Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and CAD drawings.

Knowledge of industry terminology, standard operational procedures, and standard technical requirements.

Preferred Experience:

Four years of relevant experience working with NCAA athletic competition equipment and systems, specifically NCAA men’s & women’s basketball.

Six years of relevant experience overseeing professional audio-visual production and/or equipment.

Commensurate with experience

Salary Range

The target base annual salary range is $56,370 to $84,311 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
