Worker Rights is a key focus area for VF and its Sustainability & Responsibility strategy.
Embedded in the Worker Rights Team, the Senior Specialist, Worker Rights Due Diligence will support VF’s Global Responsible Sourcing Team to understand and prepare for responsible business conduct legislation and advise on how to practically apply due diligence in relation to worker rights and environmental risks in the global supply chain. This is essential to ensure VF’s further alignment with mandatory human rights disclosure requirements and emerging due diligence needs.
The Senior Specialist will have a broad knowledge of the complexity of salient worker rights issues in global supply chains. This includes a good understanding of worker rights risks in the supply chains of the apparel and footwear industries and working knowledge of international human rights and labor standards.
Due Diligence Support
This role includes:
Add value to the Global Worker Rights Team by supporting the implementation of the worker rights strategy and accelerating progress on strategy deliverables. This includes coordinating workstreams across internal functions that support the implementation of global and local worker rights programs in VF’s Supply Chain.In collaboration with the Director, Global Worker Rights and other key stakeholders within VF, coordinate the development and implementation of the worker rights due diligence framework, guidelines, and processes according to current and upcoming regulatory frameworks (e.g., CSDDD and CSRD). This includes support for global worker rights remediation protocols on key salient risks.Participate in discussions with industry stakeholders to ensure alignment on due diligence frameworks to help inform the Worker Rights Team in support of internal strategies for operationalizing requirements to suppliers and closing gaps in the upstream supply chain.Align in-scope internal workstreams with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct by advising internal SMEs and Program Managers on requirements, best practices, and practical solutions. This includes supporting the Government Affairs Team by following new developments and directions in the Human Rights space from national legislators including in the EU.Advise internal SMEs and Program Managers on how a due diligence framework can be applied to environmental sustainability work in the supply chain, in alignment with OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct and CSDDD.Support Worker Rights Issue Management
Lead and coordinate the internal worker rights issue management process and ensure that relevant internal stakeholders are informed and aligned on the issue status, timelines, and next steps.Support in providing time-sensitive responses on various issues to relevant external stakeholders.Stakeholder Engagement Activities
Participate in strategic meetings and coordinating follow-up activities to advance VF’s preventive work on upholding worker rights in its supply chain operations.Regularly support engagement with internal stakeholders on KPIs, program updates, performance reporting, and supplier engagement, including regular briefings on updated human rights priorities to the Government Affairs Team.Reporting
Support the Worker Rights Team, ESG Team and S&R Data Team in structuring continuous data collection on worker rights programs and activities for internal and external reporting purposes, e.g. on CSRD, internal quarterly or annual reports, internal and external presentations, etc.Support maintaining and further develop internal communication platforms (e.g., SharePoint sites) for worker rights programs, activities, and results to stay current and relevant to internal functions.Skills for Success
3+ years’ experience in the field of human and worker rights or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education.Corporate responsibility, international business, apparel or footwear industry or other relevant organizational experience with business and human rights preferred.Experience with external stakeholder communication a plus.Knowledge of the human rights regulatory space and developments is a must.Fluent in English. Proficiency in other language than English is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.What’s In It For You
