Senior Specialist, Reservoir Engineering
Job description / Role Employment: Full Time

Job Purpose

Participate and/or review field development plans, reservoir studies to ensure quality of the static and dynamic models used in optimization of field development plans are in line with expectation. Liaise with Group Companies to review and assess existing field development plans, studies, and dynamic models, and to provide technical advice on analytical work and reservoir modeling.

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1)
- Monitor field development plan related studies to ensure technical quality, rigor and compliance with ADNOC standards and guidelines.
- Ensure that ADNOC's technical standards and best practices are being followed in the Group companies as planned
- Drive implementation of ADNOC's standards and guidelines in the Group Companies to increase efficiency and value and to achieve the ADNOC Vision.
- Participate in the testing and evaluation of commercial reservoir simulators, related reservoir software, and analytical tools (including associated pre-and post-processors) to identify and recommend technical software that meet ADNOC requirements in the most cost-effective manner.
- Provide hands-on support for development and use of reservoir modeling and simulation, and for reservoir studies and projects.
- Examine and review various reservoir study reports, and recommends actions and techniques to improve field development plans, data gathering programs and to ensure proper implementation of ADNOC's reservoir management guidelines.
- Participate with Group Companies, stakeholders, consultants and service companies as the ADNOC representative to discuss and advise on studies, reservoir modeling and simulation, software matters, R&D, reservoir technology and ADNOC hydrocarbon reserves.
- Advise on the current and future reservoir modeling and reservoir management activities, including the identification and recommendation of advance technology and projects where research can be initiated/applied to Abu Dhabi reservoirs.
- Maintain close interaction with other team members to ensure that a fully integrated, multi-disciplinary approach is followed in all reservoir engineering studies performed in ADNOC/Group Companies.
- Participate in the development of standards for knowledge and competency in conjunction with optimum resource allocation strategy to provide a challenging and motivating learning environment for Upstream/OPCO Specialists in alignment with business needs, career technical ladders, ADNOC competency profiles, technical working systems and training programs.

- Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.

Budgets
- Provide input for preparation of the Unit/Department/Section budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver objectives.
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Implement approved Unit/Department/Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance Management
- Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Unit/Department/ Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Reports
- Provide inputs to prepare Unit/Department/Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

Generic Accountabilities (continue)

Internal Communications & Working Relationships
- Daily contact with Discipline Expert in Subsurface Department.
- Frequent contact with other Upstream Functions for data exchange and technical discussion, as necessary.
- Frequent contact with OPCOs for data exchange and technical discussion, as necessary.

External Communications & Working Relationships
- Occasional contacts with consultants, contractors and ISH companies.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Reservoir Engineering or equivalent

Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- 10 years of experience, in subsurface Reservoir Engineering issues with functional understanding of geology, geophysics, reservoir and fluid characterization issues and how they relate to reservoir performance and development planning

Skills and Competencies
- Skilled in application of classical reservoir engineering analytical methods.
- Functional knowledge of reservoir engineering software such as Eclipse, VIP; modeling tools such as Petrel and RMS; PVT software, and integrated production management tools (MBAL, Prosper etc.) and able to coach others on use.
- Capable of performing basic simulation modeling, using advanced modeling techniques. Experience with multiple modeling tools required.
- Confident presentation and communication skills. Confident in representing the team and the company at internal and external technical and operational meetings.
- Track record of being self-motivated and takes initiative. Enjoys taking on challenging problems and aspires to deliver innovative technical solutions. Will not shy away from difficult problems or deadlines.

Professional Certifications
- External publications including first Author publications in journals or conference proceedings; preferably peer reviewed.
