Job Description:
In this role, the Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will support and interface across functional disciplines including Program Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Engineering personnel. The SQE will be an active and significant contributor in the evaluation, development and monitoring of key Suppliers and Subcontractors, create Quality requirements, participate in the generation and review of requirements, and validate flow down of expectations. The SQE will communicate and ensure our Suppliers and Subcontractors understand stated requirements, have the capability to consistently and predictively meet, and provide conforming products and services.
Essential Functions:
Participate and/or lead improvement efforts as a member of cross-functional teams while acting as a conduit between the external source and internal resources.Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.Influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional personnel.Manage Supplier and Subcontractor performance and validate the implementation of effective procedures, test methods, and process controls, geared toward risk mitigation.Perform audits of current and potential supplier’s quality systems and manufacturing processes to assess their ability to consistently provide material that meets L3Harris requirements and specifications.Lead the verification, validation and acceptance of proposed product design and Supplier and Subcontractor process changes. Proactively monitor, analyze, report on, and participate in the improvement of Supplier and Subcontractor process and product performance.Track supplier performance and identify concerns by monitoring in-process and customer (external) quality issues.Provide regular input to supplier scorecardsLead failure analysis, complex problem solving and corrective action efforts, and drive the development of technical solutions.Participate in the review and disposition of nonconforming product while representing the organization as a prime technical resource.Drive prompt resolution of supplier quality issues that affect L3Harris production and delivery capabilities.Monitor responses to supplier corrective action requests to ensure timeliness and adequacy of responses.Identify, based upon internal and external performance issues, candidates for more in-depth supplier corrective and preventive actions and oversee status/progress of these actions.Maintain and improve quality system documentation, records, and processes to meet ISO, customer and internal requirementsWillingness and ability to travel 20-25% of the timeMust be a self-starter and able to adjust quickly to changing priorities and assignments.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.Preferred Additional Skills:
Degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering discipline.Experience with product test, equipment and instrumentation, knowledge of multiple Electronics Commodities, such as CCA/PCBA, Electronic and Electrical assemblies, RF and MW Devices, Semiconductor, distributors, passives and miscellaneous nice to have.Experience in a high volume electrical or electrical/mechanical focused manufacturing environment with focus on government, military and law enforcement products.Proven work history in project leadership and technical problem solving.Experience in Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) a plus.Intermediate to advanced SPC/Data analysis skills and proven ability to perform DOE, FMEA, ANOVA and Gage R&R analysis a strong plus.Demonstrated skill in implementation of six sigma principles, practices and techniques for maximum cost reduction and profit improvement. Six Sigma Black or Green Belt certification.Working knowledge and familiarity with IPC-A-610, J-STD-002, IPC-A-600, MIL-STD-883, certification, and knowledge of RoHS and similar industry standardsExperience with PCBA production (surface mount technology), harness assembly, and/or EEE piece part procurement and screeningStrong interpersonal and communication (listening, verbal, and written) skills; comfortable presenting information in a team setting; able to interact at all levels of the organization.Organizational and project-management skills with the ability to monitor progress, mitigate problems/delays, and drive accountability.Please be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance.
