Job Description Purpose The Senior Specialist, Editorial & Proofing performs editorial review for all pharmaceutical advertising, health education, and corporate materials throughout the approval process. The Senior Specialist reviews projects for spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors; format/style inconsistencies; sense and clarity; factual accuracy; conformance to industry, brand, and company standards/guidelines; and that Medical/Legal/Regulatory (MLR) feedback has been implemented correctly. Acts as content champion and lead editor for assigned brands. Works independently and in tandem with the cross-functional agency team to deliver high-quality, error-free communications that meet applicable requirements and marketing objectives. Responsibilities + Reviews a wide range of digital, print, and other media for factual and grammatical accuracy, clarity of message, and compliance with industry/brand/company standards/guidelines + Edits and proofreads pharmaceutical promotional materials for both consumer and professional audiences + Performs quality checks to prepare for MLR submission, including validating language and artwork against approved core claims, safety language, terms and conditions, template information, and brand images and logos + Completes must-match reviews of MLR-approved text against programmed materials and/or printer proofs + Tests functionality of interactive pieces (e.g., navigation, links, pop-ups) + Attends kickoff, status, client, and other job-related meetings + Acts as content owner for assigned brands and collaborates with internal team (account, writers, designers) and cross-functional business owners (Marketing Operations, MLR) as necessary to address content issues and inconsistencies + Communicates project progress and potential issues to account and creative teams to ensure efforts remain on schedule + Manages priorities with flexibility to meet sometimes changing or multiple deadlines Significant Work Activities + Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day) Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Life Sciences, Communications) + 5+ years editing/proofreading experience or equivalent; prior experience in marketing and healthcare communications or pharma advertising agency + Command of AMA 11th edition style + Proficient in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office suite; possesses ability to learn and adapt to other software tools as necessary + Knowledge and prior experience with AbbVie brands is a plus + Effective written and verbal communication skills + Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage multiple jobs in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment + Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate well with others and operate as a team player + Ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and comply with business needs, policies, and guidelines + Ability to digest and interpret content across various print and digital tactics targeted toward a variety of audiences, including medical professional, consumer, and corporate + Strong attention to detail and ability to look at a project, or series of projects, holistically + Experience fact checking and annotating medical claims preferred + Experience submitting projects via Veeva Vault PromoMats a definite plus Additional Information Applicable only to applicants applying to a position in any location with pay disclosure requirements under state or local law: ​ ​The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.
