We are looking for a seasoned, attention to detail focused Software Engineer to help us with the operations, enhancement, and redesign of the Splunk Observability Data Platform. As a Senior Software Engineer in the Splunk Observability Metadata Team, you will be part of the core data platform team that is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and new feature enhancements of existing ingestion services, persistence stores, and query services. Furthermore, you will be a critical part of designing, architecting, building, and deploying new services to replace and/or enhance existing Metadata services to meet Splunk Observability’s demands for higher throughput at efficient cost. **Technical Skills:** + Basic Qualifications + BS in Computer Science or equivalent training or work experience. + 7+ years of experience building large-scale distributed backend systems, primarily using Java + Experience operating on production systems + Experience with DevOps practices and comfortability operating your own systems.Preferred Qualifications + 8+ years relevant work experience in data processing technologies such as Kafka and / or Spark. + Proficiency in Java 8+, familiar with the development environments. + Experience driving technical designs for complex backend systems. + Proficiency in Kubernetes, gRPC, cloud native development on AWS & GCP. + Experience with 1 or more distributed databases, preferably Cassandra or Redis. Note: **Base Pay Range** SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area Base Pay Range: $174,800.00 - 240,350.00 per year California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts Base Pay Range: $157,320.00 - 216,315.00 per year All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area. Base Pay Range: $139,840.00 - 192,280.00 per year Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location.
