Senior Software Engineer/Developer
Job Description:

Position Description: 

 

Builds and develops Java based applications and Restful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that support testing and reporting services. Builds, tests, and releases microservices architecture and software application features in an Agile delivery environment. Builds middleware platforms, Web services, and data solutions for internal and external customers. Builds and deploys highly automated, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure, using Oracle database. Automates Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines in an Agile environment using Git, Java, Jenkins, and Docker. Builds real-time streaming data pipelines and applications using data movement technologies (ETL). Develop moderately complex and scalable J2EE Applications using spring framework, SpringBoot, Maven, GIT, Jenkins, Udeploy and Stash. Develops Informatica workflows, Oracle stored procs, CAMUNDA modelling, OBIEE Reporting and microservices. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for regulatory initiatives into business solutions by developing complex software applications. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

 

Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.  

Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.  

Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.  

Performs code reviews and defines coding standards and standard methodologies. 

Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation. 

Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing. 

Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.  

Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems. 

Responsible for production support activities. 

Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope. 

Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project. 

Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives. 

Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies. 

 

Education and Experience: 

 

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing Java based applications in a financial services environment for 401(k) compliance environment. 

 

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing Java based applications in a financial services environment for 401(k) compliance environment. 

 

Skills and Knowledge: 

 

Candidate must also possess: 

 

Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing and consuming Java RESTful and SOAP Web services in an Agile environment, using Java Design Patterns and Spring framework; reviewing queue-based transactions using Active MQ; developing Business Process Management (BPM) applications; and running applications on Web servers using Apache Tomcat. 

DE migrating existing processes and applications from on-prem environments to Cloud based Microsoft Azure and AWS platforms, using containerized solutions (Docker); and addressing Cloud security constraints in financial services and record keeping systems for 401(K) plans. 

DE designing and developing workflows and decision models using Business process management tools. communicating with process management engine to support operations business process models using REST APIs; and developing ETL workflow using Informatica for data integration process with complex data transformations. 

DE developing data models using Oracle database for storing data; writing stored procedures for manipulating and calculating regulatory data, using Oracle; developing user interface pages using AngularJS; and developing solutions for monitoring web applications by integrating with Splunk.
