Collections Engineering team is responsible for building NextGen collections platform that is used by collection agents across PayPal - globally. We build platforms that get called across every interaction between PayPal and its users and partners. Our solutions need to scale across millions of such interactions, working with petabyte plus data, integrating with various other APIs in real time and yet providing high availability and configurability to the business. To achieve this, we are always looking at advances in technology and science and tying those back to business needs.

You will be responsible for working with a team of engineers in design, development, test, and deployment of a range of products on web and mobile platforms. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent project execution skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

Your day-to-day activities

Be able to independently design, code and test complex features, as well as lead and mentor other engineers, help build engineering teamsDrive both technology and product innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative developmentBe a technical subject matter expert and represent the full internal and external capabilities of the platform.Lead complex architectural discussions that involve multiple systemsIdentify any product/functionality gaps and collaborate internal product and technology teams to define the necessary development to support solution delivery.Drive integration efforts and lead critical work streams of strategic initiatives sponsored by senior executivesDrive engineering excellency through CI/CDPro-active response in identifying and troubleshooting integration or technical issues.Write tests for the existing and newly created code to maintain compatibility

What do you need to bring

Design, develop, and maintain frontend applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, and other relevant technologies.Experience with web front end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, Webpack, Bootstrap etc5+ years experience in building successful production software systems.Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to implement user-friendly features and interfaces.Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following industry best practices and coding standards.Optimize frontend applications for maximum speed, scalability, and responsiveness.Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to established standards.Troubleshoot and debug frontend issues, providing timely resolution and maintaining system integrity. Stay up to date with the latest frontend development trends, tools, and technologies, and recommend best practices to enhance team productivity and product quality.Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to foster their professional growth and development.Excellent communication and writing skillsDemonstrate a high level of curiosity, passion for technology, pride of ownership and strive for excellenceBachelor’s degree in computer science or related fieldA solid grounding in Computer Science fundamentals.
