We’re looking for a senior software engineer with experience in infrastructure and operations and a strong interest in big data systems. You will work with a world-class team of engineers on deploying and operating existing systems, and building new systems to meet the unique challenges of Asana’s data platforms.
The Data Infrastructure team builds the infrastructure responsible for consuming, exposing, and creating product and product-derived datasets. Our team owns the pipelines that transport and process database data from all of Asana’s product surfaces. We build and operate the infrastructure and services that ensure data accuracy and data availability for stakeholders in Data Science, Business, and Product teams.
This role is based in our Warsaw office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do, and your recruiter can share more about the in-office requirements.

What you’ll achieve
Work on cross-functional projects to help define the future of Asana’s data platforms, enabling our colleagues to make the best possible use of data Collaborate with data engineering and with other infrastructure teams on problems related to data infrastructure service models, operations, deployment and security Design and implement tooling and automation for data access, scalability, monitoring and alerting, and privacy Evangelize good code and solid engineering and operability practices Co-create and follow best practices of running data applications in the cloud (AWS) and all the state-of-the-art tooling around it Support design reviews, communicate constraints, and help engineers make the right trade-offs Keep our data platform up and running by being part of our data infra on-call rotation (within working hours) Help bootstrap our Data Infra presence in Warsaw!About you
Expertise in programming, distributed systems design, and infrastructure Experience building and operating scalable, reliable, and highly-available services 4+ years designing and implementing production code for backend, infrastructure, and/or data systems 2+ years mentoring/coaching other team members on design and execution of projects Eagerness to collaborate with different roles and functions across Asana with a keen sense of empathy Good command of Python and SQL Familiarity with distributed data processing systems (e.g. Spark, Databricks, Snowflake or similar systems) Expertise in AWS services (e.g. IAM, S3) and with infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g. Terraform)At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.
