Senior Software Development Engineer, Aurora Control Plane
Amazon.com
Looking to be part of a team building hyper-scale database services in the cloud? Do you want to revolutionize the way people manage vast volumes of data in the cloud where you have direct and immediate impact on hundreds of thousands of users who use AWS database services?
Aurora is a distributed, fault-tolerant database service, leveraging a self-healing storage system which performs up to five times faster than standard MySQL databases and three times faster than standard PostgreSQL databases.
Aurora is one of the fastest-growing AWS services, with business and engineering decisions having a widespread impact across many of the world's fastest growing businesses! Our customers depend on the performance of our services to scale and support their mission-critical workloads.
Operating much like a start-up, we have a very flat organizational structure and a casual office vibe, but leverage all the resources and stability of being the largest cloud provider.
The AWS Aurora CP DEX team for building services for Alameda customer. Alameda’s customers are internal AWS service teams that wish to offer software as a service. There are three primary value propositions that Alameda offers teams: improved security, faster time to market and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO). Alameda’s value proposition to the AWS business more broadly is a standardized, higher security bar for services, a lower development cost for new services and lower ongoing maintenance cost for existing services. Alameda delivers on these value propositions by offering a number of “building block” services that each provide one vertical slice of common service functionality. Each building block service performs just one aspect of common functionality such as gathering telemetry from the data plane, monitoring the health of resources or provisioning new data plane resources (instances, containers). Each building block service is itself single-tenant - that is, we host a different copy of the building block service for each AWS team that wishes to use it. Since building block services are single tenant they are highly customizable by the AWS team using them, and offer mechanisms through which service teams can hook in custom business logic extensions.
We are looking for Software Development Engineers who have built a lot of software – shipped products, management console, services and modules. You should be passionate about optimizing the software development experience at a very large scale, using your strong technical skills and motivation to achieve results. You are naturally enthusiastic about learning new technologies and industry trends and are excited by the idea of solving hard technical challenges.
Come, join us in reinventing database systems for the cloud!
