Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Senior Site Inspector to monitor construction and ensure compliance with contract requirements and following the projects QA procedures.
This role sits in our Mobility Global Bubsiness Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.
Role accountabilities:
In this role, you will participate in on-site and other project-related meetings with contractors, consultants, utility companies, and other stakeholders. You will schedule surveys and inspection activities, including quality control, and lay out contract limits and the general extent of the work. Coordination with material testing consultants will be required, as well as inspecting materials upon delivery to the site. You will prepare and submit monthly summaries, identifying the acceptability of all materials and outlining courses of action for borderline or rejectable materials.
You will ensure compliance with all traffic management and public information services, as well as traffic control and staging plans included in the contract documents or required by law. Responsibilities also include providing records of traffic accidents, public notifications, and complaints occurring within the work zone. You will prepare daily construction reports, maintain accurate project records, and assist in issuing instruction notices, monitoring and approving records of extra work by the contractor, and processing change orders for City approval.
Grade checks for the work will be carried out, with approval given if they meet the tolerances allowed in the contract. You will ensure the safety of the worksite by checking for adequate signage, traffic control, work procedures, and safe access. Environmental control inspections of the contractor’s work will be conducted to ensure compliance with contract provisions and provincial and municipal requirements.
You will measure items of work, maintain records, and update as-built drawings on an ongoing basis. A system will be maintained to track monthly changes in contract item quantities, new items, projected costs, and cost variances. Deficiencies in construction will be identified, corrective measures instructed, and the results confirmed and reported. Finally, you will prepare and submit monthly summaries addressing the acceptability of materials and any actions needed for borderline or rejectable materials.
