ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Site Civil Engineer/Project Manager– Land Development | Hybrid | NY/NJ

 

VHB’s growing Northeast region is seeking an experienced Senior Site Civil Engineer/Project Manager to support our Land Development practice for New York/New Jersey (New York City, Long Island, lower Hudson Valley, and New Jersey). Our past and present clients include commercial, office, residential, industrial, and hospitality developers; higher education, healthcare, and K through 12 Institutional entities to municipal, local government and federal agencies.

 

Responsibilities

Develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects, including large-scale mixed-use developments, industrial, commercial, office, institutional, healthcare and residentialSupport preparation of land development design and permitting documentsAssist with project financial performance and client relationsPrepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the systems designedAttend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues with themManage work and development of junior-level staffManage significant tasks on small, medium, or large projectsAssist in the development of new project opportunities and manage proposal submissionsTechnical and design report writingAssist in the preparation of permitting, design, and construction documents

Skills and Abilities

Solid understanding of the typical land entitlement process including permitting at the local and state level preferredKnowledge of local and state regulations governing site design preferredAbility to think critically and creatively in a team-focused environmentExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsExperience preparing graphics and mapsKnowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, HydroCAD, and StormCAD Strong attention to detailSelf-motivated

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study requiredMaster’s degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)8-11 years of professional site/civil design engineering experience required11-15 years of site/civil design experience preferredAutoCAD proficiency requiredCivil 3D and MicroStation preferredPE license required

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $120,000-175,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
