Senior Shift Supervisor - Lieutenant
Summary The Senior Shift Supervisor- Lieutenant’s primary duty is to assist the Site Supervisor-Captain to ensure to ensure that contractual obligations are met during respective shifts. The Lieutenant will serve as the alternate Captain and is responsible for exercising leadership, maintaining high morale, directing, and inspecting the performance of all security personnel assigned to the site. This includes scheduling the shift work distribution and training, answering of SOs questions related to work, and solving shift problems with minimum supervision. The LT is the direct liaison between the Sergeants and the Cpt. The LT is directly accountable to the SM. The LT may be armed with a side arm, shotgun, or other weapons as required Responsibilities Maintains a general knowledge of the general orders and post orders for the specific site, Chenega Standard Operating Procedures, CDC policies and procedures and a working knowledge of the Performance Work Statement. Keeps security officers assigned to their shift informed of any special requirements or circumstances occurring or anticipated during their shift. Notifies chain of command of any critical incidents, prepares “end of shift” reports, and provides daily reporting of significant activities. Review’s security officers’ daily written reports (logs) for content, clarity, neatness, grammar and spelling, reviews and assists with the preparation of officer-generated incident reports and written statements. Reviews, monitors, and updates each post “pass down” log, daily briefing binder, visitors’ logs, and inspects for content. Review post orders and directives suggests changes and updates and communicates changes to all members of the shift and ensures compliance. Conducts daily visual inspections (prior to and during each shift) of security officers for neatness, cleanliness, and proper appearance, inspects equipment and vehicles taking appropriate action to obtain compliance with standards. Conducts pre-assigned and unannounced quality control post inspections during the shift documenting post conditions, officer appearance, needed materials or supplies as needed. Review daily schedules, contacts off-duty personnel as needed to replace personnel “calling out” or taking emergency leave, monitors overtime, and prepares documentation of all payroll changes. Administrative duties include the issuing of weapons or equipment, the distribution of uniforms, assisting with fleet maintenance monitoring the need for repairs or cleaning, and scheduled service. Participates in daily weapon count, monthly weapon inventories (including ammunition) and other equipment inventories, as required. Track’s security officer absentee trends and patterns or such leave, documenting same and taking appropriate action in cases of abuse. Initiates and takes appropriate action with respect to disciplinary matters, misconduct or commendations and complaints, documents, and reports on cases of officer injury/serious illness. Takes appropriate action in matters of on-the-job injuries and accidents involving Chenega personnel or property while implementing proper procedures for reporting and documenting. Practices accepted principles of good supervision; leads, guides, and directs subordinate personnel; counsels, encourages, and trains subordinate personnel, as needed. Provides documentation of and reports of officers deserving recognition by forwarding or preparing commendations. Monitors officer morale. Responds to all emergency situations or other incidents that would require a supervisory presence documenting same and making appropriate notification, conducts initial investigation into service complaints in an unbiased manner and reports. Responsible for confirming that the shift supervisors are performing their duties as described in their job description. Working knowledge of all procedures, policies, and regulations related to their site. Ensure guard personnel are provided the proper serviceable equipment and gear, uniforms necessary to perform their duties. Assist the site manager with management and supervision of the site-specific guard force. Assist the site manager with the development and execution of quarterly exercises at their assigned locations to test the response, knowledge and competency of the guard force and guard force shift supervisors. Assist in preparing a documented after-action review which shall contain corrective actions and lessons learned. Assist in scheduling site specific personnel and all assigned additional coverage. Assist in confirming schedules, handling shift replacement changes. Assist in approving site- specific personal leave accrued annually. Assist in providing contract company and client with reports necessary to identify security related incidents and information. Supervises to confirm appropriate action was taken with respect to disciplinary matters, misconduct or commendations and complaints, documents, and reports on cases of officer injury/serious illness Oversees all shift supervisors assigned at the site. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.  Five (5) years’ experience in security or law enforcement administrative and substantial operations experience in the armed forces, security, police, or civilian equivalent or related field Five (5) years of specialized experience directly related to the work performed in physical security or law enforcement Equivalent education/experience may be substituted Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License Honorably discharged (If Applicable) Must speak, read, write, and understand the English language, apply written rules, detailed orders, instructions and training material Possess a Diploma or Certificate as a graduate of a Federal, State, or Local law enforcement agency training academy; or military services recognized basic law enforcement or physical security training academy Must satisfactorily qualify with a 9 mm semi-auto pistol handgun using the agency’s course of fire Be able to meet any Federal, State, or Municipal requirements to work as an Armed Security Guard Have no record or history of illegal drug use, sale, possession, or manufacture during the previous five years Have no felony convictions and no convictions that reflect on the individual’s reliability including those crimes classified under the Lautenberg Act Must be able to pass a Background Check (DOJ Security Risk Assessment) and the National Agency Investigations Check (NACI) prior to assignment Must have or be able to obtain current State armed Security Officer Registration Must have valid state Armed Guard license requirements In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
