Senior Security Engineer, SecOps Risk
AWS Security is looking for a Senior Security Engineer to help ensure that our systems and processes are secured against the latest threats. A Senior Engineer at Amazon is expected to be a domain expert in multiple domains. In this role, you must show exemplary judgment in making technical trade-offs between short versus long term security and business goals. You must also demonstrate resilience and navigate difficult situations with composure and tact. Conflicts should be addressed by listening, finding the best way forward and persuading one’s colleagues. A broad understanding of the AWS business and its interconnections is required.

As a Senior Security Engineer in AWS Security Operations, you will be driving the response to complex architectural security issues in the cutting-edge technology underlying Amazon and AWS cloud computing services. You will partner with service teams developing our services, business organizations, and other security teams. You will help solve complex and systemic infrastructure security issues, acting as a subject matter expert for our organization. As a level of technical escalation, you will apply your security and business knowledge to drive improvements across our services, managing business risk and making technical trade-offs between short versus long term security and business goals.

AWS in general, and in particular, operates at very large scale and demands high standards, so a passion and discipline around security and delivery is critical. A high level of ownership and accountability is a must.

You should be skilled at investigating security issues and new threat scenarios, as this position will provide you with a challenging opportunity to work alongside world-class talent in solving complex and far-reaching security problems. A successful candidate will have a good mix of deep technical knowledge and a demonstrated background in Security Engineering, Architecture, and Identity & Access Management activities.


Key job responsibilities
* Calibration of security findings and development of potential risk mitigations
* Work in tandem with internal Amazon and AWS service teams to improve internal and external services.
* Partner with other AWS Security Engineers to implement cross-team solutions
* Influence service teams across Amazon to develop systems and processes with security best practices.
* Projects and research work as needed
