SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Senior Secretary is to provide secretarial support for the Department of Cancer Biology. This role requires the exercise of independent judgment and a basic knowledge of administrative support.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

General Secretarial Support
Provide general secretarial assistance, including telephone coverage (greeting, screening, and routing calls), transcription, facsimile transmission, filing, and photocopying. Process telephone information accurately, take complete written messages, and ensure follow-up. Responsible for secretarial and office tasks for assigned faculty and staff.

Correspondence and Calendar
Type all correspondence and memoranda for assigned staff. Understand both verbal and written instructions necessary for producing documents, including formatting, designing, and filing. Maintain electronic calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate multiple attendee schedules for meetings.

Mail and Copiers
Process incoming mail, replenish paper in photocopiers and fax machines, and replace toner cartridges in printers as needed.

Conference Room Schedules
Maintain conference room schedules and assist with inventory management.

Education Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience Required
Two years of experience performing responsible secretarial work.
Skills and Testing
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
