Senior Scientist (Assay R&D)

Responsibilities

Engage in cross-functional collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams to accelerate the development of novel reagents and assays used across Illumina NGS platforms.Ownership of 1 or more assigned project deliverablesDesign, plan and execute experiments to high levels of efficiency at subteam level for assigned scope of workCommunicate results and conclusions effectively to aid in decision-making at team and project levels.Maintain good lab and documentation practices.Upkeep of lab equipment, laboratory supplies and good housekeepingWrite technical reports and communicate effectively to leadershipSupervise and assign tasks to a small team of 1 or more junior scientists

Position Requirements: 

Minimum PhD. with 1-3 years laboratory experience in multidisciplinary fields of biochemical/chemical engineering, biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology or similar is requiredProven track record of innovative, collaborative R&D with productive outcomesIn-depth working knowledge and hands-on experience with various NGS library preparation and molecular biology methodsExperience in designing and developing novel NGS library prep methods for various sequencing platformsGood working knowledge of single molecule biophysicsStrong collaborator with excellent written and verbal communication skillsSense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks to achieve deliverables within project timelinesAbility to adapt to business needs in a rapidly changing, fast paced industryApplications with Cover Letter will be preferentially considered

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills: 

Experience with NGS bioinformatics data processingExperience with basic programming/codingUnderstanding of protein biochemistry, engineering and structureExperience with automationPrevious work experience in biochemical, pharma, chemical or equivalent industriesExperience with IVD and/or RUO product developmentExperience with leading small technical teams
