POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Product Development Scientist will support one of our top, strategic customers through development of seasonings to meet specific sensory and functional attributes. Reporting to the Director, the Scientist will be part of a highly creative and collaborative product development team with a strong emphasis of customer partnership. This Scientist will also interact with other functional areas such as regulatory, operations and quality assurance to meet and maintain all seasoning design requirements. The Scientist will leverage McCormick’s world class innovation and corporate technical resources to drive consumer preferred solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide snack seasonings product development support for customers to include building and sustaining relationships within the core customer development teams Guide technical excellence and differentiation through robust product design, leveraging technology and implementing feedback from internal and external resources in an ever-changing environment Create market-preferred snack seasonings through bench top product development, leveraging culinary input, technical innovation and consumer insights. Guide customer requests by interacting with a broad multifunctional team to provide best in class solutions Conducting plant trials at McCormick locations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 10 years of product development experience in the food industry. Must have seasoning development experience with good understanding from design to scale up. Bachelor's Degree in Food Science/Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry or a related field Strong understanding of consumer and general sensory testing, including its application to product development Experience collecting and interpreting scientific data, including sensory, analytical, and commercialization Experience effectively collaborating across levels and functions within own organization and with outside customers and vendors Ability and willingness to travel 10% to 20% Proven success multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment High degree of ownership and professional commitment Desire and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people Good written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with external and internal customers Curiosity and innovative thinking Proven ability to interpret scientific data, including sensory and analytical, and commercialization
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MS Degree and/or PhD in a related field Experience with SAP, product formulary and retrieval systems Culinary interest or related training Proficiency in vendor management and development including the implementation of new ingredients as required

Base Salary: $86,390 to $151,220
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
