The successful candidate works in the MIS development team with specific emphasis on producing MIS Reports within the SDLC process Translates the functional & technical specifications into executable code without errors Finds effective software solutions to technical issues Ensures
that the application performs the functions as required by business Releases source code with zero defects

Key Performance Areas
MIS Reports
Designs and implements the Technical Specification for MIS Reports using the relevant development language SAS and related ETL tools
Design and produce report source code by applying the organisations technical standards
Conduct interactive reviews with the Business Consultant and Architect to ensure application of correct standards alignment to architectural principles and validation & optimization of the technical design
Update the reference documentation and update the scheduling tool with progress
Consult with Business Consultant Project Manager Technical Lead and Architect on technical issues encountered Document logic and comments inside code Document Database structure changes and rule changes Produce or update the configuration files
Prepare development time estimates and inform the Project Manager

Unit Test Code
Conduct unit testing and fix any defects found
Review error logs and provide Business Consultant with updates on fixes found in testing
Consult and assist the Business Consultant in reviewing defects found in testing During Test standby duties handle any defects as raised in the testing process
Release the source code with zero defects

Release Notes
Update and publish release notes related to the current system changes implemented and notify impacted parties
Maintain and update the Technical Specification with any added content Check code in and out of development environment and adjust version control tables where appropriate
During golive perform live monitoring of the new system If required make configuration settings/updates version number changes workflow and configuration table changes
If required complete and update the Emergency GoLive form During GoLive Standby review and handle any live issues within the full SDLC process

Resolved incidents
Respond to incidents escalated by the Incident Manager
Log issues in the appropriate issues tracking system
Conduct preliminary analysis on issues
Verify and validate build stability

Learning and Growth
Discuss and agree a development plan with their manager
Focussing on developing an indepth understanding of their current job purpose
Proactively investigating options that will support their learning goals through activities such as project secondments participation in projects self study and formal training

Requirements
Matric
Tertiary qualification BSc Informatics / Software Engineering
Relevant software product certification
SAS programming skills intermediate to advanced
Data warehouse experience intermediate to advanced
Experience in Insurance MI/ Statistics and Analytics would be highly advantageous
SAS system administration skills would be advantageous
Data architecture knowledge would be advantageous
QlikView experience would be advantageous
Relevant degree postgraduate or technology specific qualifications would be advantageous
Relevant software development qualification MCSD or equivalent
At least 5 years experience in the relevant source code development
SDLC Unit Testing

Relevant application technologies ie Java RPG Lotus Notes apps HTML SAS language SAP language
