THE ROLE

The Senior Sales Manager is responsible for cultivating relationships with clients, identifying new business opportunities, and managing the sales process, oversee the performance of the sales team, developing sales strategies, achieving revenue goals, ensuring they meet or exceed targets, and contribute to the overall business strategy by collaborating with various internal departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Sales to create and implement sales strategies that align with business objectives.Stay current on industry trends, competitor offerings, and market developments to refine sales tactics and increase market share.Identify new business opportunities across corporate, association, government, and event sectors.Proactively engage in networking, attend industry events, and utilize outreach to generate leads and foster long-term client relationships.Monitor sales performance, provide accurate revenue forecasts, and contribute to the annual budgeting process.Regularly report on sales activities, including pipeline development, lead generation, and revenue tracking.

Conduct site tours and deliver professional presentations to potential clients.Negotiate contract terms while ensuring business profitability.Maintain open communication with clients to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction throughout the sales process.Lead the preparation of proposals, presentations, and bids to secure new business.Draft and negotiate contracts, ensuring all agreements are documented in a timely manner.Develop a comprehensive understanding of competitors, their offerings, and market position. Use this information to highlight the convention center's competitive advantages during the sales process.Mentor and guide junior sales staff, assign leads, and monitor their performance.Foster a collaborative work environment and promote professional growth through training and development initiatives.Represent the convention center at local industry meetings and conferences.Engage in community outreach to promote the center and expand its visibility in the market.Compose sales letters, proposals, and leasing contracts.Ensure accurate use of CRM systems for all sales activities.Stimulate ongoing improvements in sales techniques, team productivity, and client engagement strategies.·Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends & ASM policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience          

BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Business, Travel & Hospitality, or a related field.A combination of experience and education may be considered.Minimum 5-7 years of experience in sales, with at least 2 years in a leadership sales role.

Proven tr ack record of success in sales, ideally within the hospitality, convention, or event management industry.Experience with large-scale events, conventions, trade shows, or corporate meetings preferred.

Skills and Abilities  

Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with excellent presentation skills.Capable of managing multiple projects and clients simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.Sales and negotiation Expertise: Proven success in sales strategy, negotiation, and client relationship management, with a results-driven and customer-centric approach.Skilled in leading teams, mentoring staff, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing work environment.In-depth understanding of event logistics, operations, and convention center services.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a proactive and self-motivated work ethic.Committed to delivering exceptional client service, ensuring satisfaction, and promoting retention.Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events as required.

Computer Skills   

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.Momentus Elite (VenueOps) or comparable event planning software a plus.
