HDR Engineering is currently seeking a Senior Routing and Siting Project Manager to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Environmental and Power Delivery professionals in our Mid-Atlantic area, specifically the state of Virginia.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Senior Routing and Siting Project Manager, we'll count on you to:Lead renewables and substation siting efforts as well as transmission line routing and siting for projects in HDR's Northeast Region and across the country. The ideal candidate has prior experience managing and providing technical leadership on projects and is looking for a broader leadership role overseeing all aspects of larger and more complex projects. Candidates have the desire and drive to grow a high-performing team to help execute these projects.The candidate must have a strong background in environmental and related site development services pertaining to the power industry. The position will focus on transmission line routing and siting, primarily in HDR's Northeast Region but also in other regions as needed. The position encompasses a client focus, networking and establishing client relationships, developing leads, and strategic thinking in future directions for both our clients and programs. The position requires a person able to visualize, build and direct a strategic program focused on siting and related activities. Responsibilities of this position include:Acting as a client manager for select clientsLeading risk management activities for both contract reviews and project deliverablesWorking collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams which could include engineers, attorneys, planners, permitting and environmental specialists, and real estate expertsPerforming routing/siting studies and analyses and preparing associated reportsPreparing and monitoring project scope, schedule and budgetProviding advice and direction on state filing requirementsPreparing state-specific siting applicationsPreparing state environmental review, National Environmental Policy Act, and other environmental documentsTravel on average 20% of the time expectedPerform other duties as neededPreferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or related fieldMinimum 10 years of experience in linear projects involving land acquisition, routing or environmental planningPrefer a minimum of 8 years writing proposals, developing scopes of work, budget, and schedules for complex environmental projects with multi-disciplinary teams and multi-agency efforts with a strong focus on siting and routing studiesExperience preparing applications for submittal to state utility regulatory agencies in the PJM footprintExperience preparing and providing expert witness testimonyExperience and understanding of permit requirements in one or more states in HDR's Northeast RegionStrong conceptual, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and research abilitiesAbility to support multiple complex and time sensitive projects effectivelyIdentify and resolve issues effectively and efficientlyAbility to interact with design and construction teams in a positive and proactive mannerPreference given to local candidatesLI-MJ1
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in related field 10 years related experience A minimum of 5 years of project management experience Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management softwareMust have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
