About the Role
Are you a forward-thinking problem solver with a passion for technology innovation and seeking to add value? We’re looking for a dynamic Senior Robotics and Automation Engineer to drive change, take on challenging operational issues and turn them into cutting-edge automation solutions.
Reporting to the Global Robotics and Automation Manager, in this role you will support Alcoa’s global mining, refining and smelting operations and work closely with various teams to design, develop and implement sustainable solutions. You will be key to accelerating the development of automation initiatives prioritised by the business to create value and will establish a framework to identify, develop and trial automation solutions applicable across multiple locations.
Your key contributions will be:Engaging with all workforce levels to identify automation / robotics opportunities to increase safety and maximise productivity across our operations.
Collaborating with external third-party vendors and internal resources to design and implement proof of concepts to validate the benefits of the identified solutions.
Supporting Operations through FEL process to progress the business case and acquire full funding for solution build.
Facilitating collaboration between Operations, ITAS, the Continuous Improvement team and the relevant customer group to ensure efficient, cost-effective solutions are delivered in a timely manner.
Building networks externally to generate innovation opportunities associated to existing and upcoming business priorities, including development of partnerships with industry leaders.

What you can bring to the role
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, automation engineering or related field.
An innovative and enthusiastic work ethic with a passion for technology and robotic automation.
An ability to understand shop floor technical challenges and formulate an end-to-end automation solution supported by effective change management.
A customer and solution-centric mindset with the ability to work with cross-functional and virtual teams globally.
Collaborative approach to work, with the potential to understand shop floor technical challenges and formulate an end-to-end solution furthering Alcoa in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Previous experience working in multinational companies, having preferably already led the complexity associated with driving digital and automation transformation from developing a strategy to launching innovative ideas with deployment milestones.
Flexibility to travel weekly across Alcoa's WA sites and attend meetings that may be outside of normal business hours to connect with global teams in other regions.
