Job Title: Senior Radio Frequency Planning Engineer
Primary objective of the job:
The Senior Radio Frequency Planning Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective planning and optimization of Digicel's radio frequency (RF) networks. Utilizing your expertise in radio frequency engineering and cutting-edge tools, to contribute to the seamless connectivity and superior performance of our mobile network, delivering an exceptional experience to our customers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform radio planning and optimization activities using various tools and software to improve network coverage, capacity, and quality Evaluate potential sites for network deployment, considering technical feasibility, regulatory compliance, and cost-effectiveness Monitor network performance indicators, troubleshoot issues, and propose and implement corrective actions to maintain high-quality service Analyse traffic patterns and forecast capacity requirements to proactively plan for network expansion and upgrades Analyse and manage spectrum allocation to ensure optimal utilization and compliance with regulatory requirements Continually review, maintain and update network configuration baselines RF Network project rollout support (project plan input, RND, troubleshoot, optimise, acceptance review, handover to operations)
Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in RF planning, optimization, and performance management in a mobile phone network environment. In-depth knowledge of 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies, network architecture, and protocols. Proficiency in RF planning tools, such as Atoll, Planet, iBwave, or similar software. Experience with Drive testing (Nemo, Azenqos, Echo or equivalent) Experience in site selection, planning and acceptance Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to RF spectrum and mobile network infrastructure
Functional Skills:
RF Network Design and Planning (2G,3G,4G & 5G TDD and FDD) Network Simulation, Modelling & model tuning Drive testing: conduct, coordinate and analyse Parameter optimisation: Design and implementing capacity and KPI improvement strategies using parameter tuning, handover optimization, and interference mitigation, etc Frequency Planning and Spectrum Management Cross Technology & Vendor Integrations (2G,3G,4G,5G for Ericsson, ZTE, Huawei, Nokia) Technical Documentation and reporting
